especially if Gus gets in on the action (unless she's the type who likes to let others "do the work" for her, then enjoy the SPOILS!) Either way you'll all have fun!

he will likely stay working for this company for a few years yet. he does not want to be on shore working yet..although there are plenty of jobs for marine engineers on shore.. I hope that this coming year they get out sooner and finish sooner. maybe a fluke this year with the economy like he said very slow for the auto industry in the spring now picking up big time.. and then there is the rush to close down the locks..so they rush and get stuck and so on.
been one heck of bumpy few weeks.. will be glad to see him.. if not tomorrow for sure..if not today
I hope to try the liverwurst and see if Bella will open some more of these gifts for him. that is part of the big surprise..but.she is totally stubborn and not treat driven......so might have to entice her..and liverwurst might just do that... will add a dab to each package. I doubt she will open all the gifts at one time anyhow...might take a few days..lol but will get pics

this whole being-stuck-in-the-ice for 4 weeks really must stink big time for them! AT least you know he is safe and heading home. Bella is going to be thrilled! The 'bully dance' image really made me smile! I know it's not the job you'd really like for your son, but hopefully this is a RARE occasion and won't be happening again. Get some PICTURES of the present opening!

he should have been home for Christmas if all had gone right..but NOT. that special gift is waiting.. just finished wrapping the rest of this am. the box for Bella is huge..lol Bella will be there for 30 plus gifts. thinking of adding some liverwurst and see if can teach her open the packages somewhat..lol. or borrow Gus..he will do it..
still not good news.he is really late 10 weeks on a tub boat that is shorter then my front yard is small small small.. is really a long time to be away from family too.. they will be GLAD to be off there.. thanks for the support
Submitted by Cheryl and The ... on January 18, 2010 - 9:07am.
That stinks...but funny how the Bad News turned into something GOOD! Yay! Now he gets that special present you've been saving! AND--time with Bella and his MOM...homecooked meals...warm, cozy bed...all the comforts of "home"!

depends on how fast he can get a bus back and they can arrange travel from Windsor to Toronto. the tug itself had to make an emergency stop........and this is not were it will dock the rest of the winter.. so he will likely be heading back out there again soon I would think. papers to be sent out and such too.. caught in the ice and damaging the vessel gets transport canada involved..big time and then the inspections need to be done too
Submitted by gusweppler (not verified) on January 18, 2010 - 8:13am.
when he talked to her on the cell phone yesterday morning..thought he might cry. he totally loves her and she just wags the tail and so on.. really really excited.. will be great for both of them..
Submitted by gusweppler (not verified) on January 18, 2010 - 8:11am.
now I should try to get some sleep but got lots to do now..lol he is supposed to call back when they get the travel plans figured out that could mean another day to wait but that is ok with me hopefully today..but maybe tomorrow thanks for the support what a heck of a ride this has been in more ways then one.. Bella is attached to me like glue..they really do sense your emotions ..bullies..big time
I guess he could not call last night..due to the other tug getting them out of the ice.. there is lots of rumbling and really have no reception at the time.. must scare the crap out of someone being rammed to get free.. he says it was really touchy for a bit but at least they were only 10 miles to shore. 30 miles to dock but that happened during the night and got them in
he says I worry to much but HEY I am a MOM.. and Mom's are known for that it is a mom privledge to worry..lol told him yay at last..this is OVER

I am so glad your son is safe and is on his home What a scary situation, thank God he is ok. I bet you are so excited to see him, and I know you have all those wonderful Christmas gifts there waiting for him. I hope you and your son have a great time opening presents and playing with the pooches. I know he will be giving Bella one huge hug when he sees her!!
So glad to hear that Bryan is ok! I was just reading your previous post about your son still being missing aloud to my husband when your new message came up. Wow! Great news! Hope you and Bryan can get some rest now.

they are out of the ice.. they got rescued by another tug and towed into shore in Windsor. the company is letting everyone go HOME today and get of the nightmare for right now he will likely have to go back again to fix it but that will at least give him some time home for Christmas..
all he wants is a WARM COMFORTABLE BED..............and a BULLY to HUG.. that is pretty simple ... he also had to chat to Bella on the phone..
he is waiting for travel plans to get them from Windsor to Toronto and then some type of bus to get them Toronto and back home to Kincardine. wow this is finally getting to the end of this nightmare.. thank goodness maybe tonight I can get some sleep...too
Bella is getting a bath so she is clean and sparkly for Bryan..and want to get his room ready too. HE has been out there for 10weeks straight...supposed to be the most 6 weeks....so 4 weeks of delay is long enough...I am more then ready to see him and so is Bella

I did not get that much sleep last night. he was supposed to call at 6pm but I heard nothing. I called his cell but only got his voice mail. and it went straight his voice mail that bothers me too..only happens if they loose total contact. if he is in Canadian waters and I know he is..it should ring and then the answering machine picks it up..at least I know he is safe that way. but NOTHING..straight to the answering machine..
so I have no idea what is happening there. all I know for sure is that they are surrounded by 3 feet of solid ice and NO steering to go anywhere.. they have lots of food and water he said yesterday. the ice put in 3 big holes in the tug itself when they rammed into it... they got them fixed as best they could...and the one is still leakng but got a make shift tank to pump the water into it.
the company was off yesterday when they lost the steering so my guess is they are busy this am. coming up with some fast way to get them out there..but NOT costing the big bucks to do it.
the tug is 73 years old as well and got some real issues..with age.
if and when they do get out..they will have transport canada to deal with..since it got damaged with the ice and then it has to be fixed and tested. he could be out there awhile yet..until they get another engineer to help him.
so I sit and wait and wait no sense in calling right now yet.. will give him some time to call here first.. likely waiting for word from the company as to their next move.
keep him in your thoughts thanks for your support it means alot

this is about all that I can handle..with this though..
