O/T Update on my horsewoman friend, Terri.....

Well, for a couple of days things deteriorated and they weren't sure what Terri would face should she even survive. This morning she said "SCREW THAT" and woke up, pulled her vent tube out, and was pretty determined she was gonna get out of bed:-) They went ahead and kept the vent out, she is obviously breathing fine on her own now, and they also removed the drains from the head injury. She looks at her husband when he talks to her, and she seems to be bouncing back in rapid form:-) Typical Terri....must of gotten bored with the whole "hospital thing"!

Keep praying. These are all good signs, but until she speaks and can prove motor function in a few areas she is still in a bad way. Though I hope no permanent damage will have occurred!

Lots of good thoughts and prayers, Ames

Having the beathing tube in,and the drain, will do quite a bit toward reducing the brain swelling.
The goal now is to prevent any more brain injury from uncontrolled swelling.
She sounds like she's a strong woman.
Sending out prayers for her family, too.

Maria, your sons story is an inspiration indeed.

I will not lose hope for Terri to have a full recovery...it was a sad set back today though. But I have known several people (unfortunately) with minor to major brain injuries and know how amazing the brain can be as far as healing.

Thank you for sharing your story....I will pass it along to Terri's husband.

Amy and Sophia

Prayers are powerful....hang in there...

The brain takes a long time to heal. Keeping her in my prayers during this terrible up and down roller coaster ride.

Maria

Hang in there and don't give up hope....been there with my son

Don't ever give up!! This is wonderful news. I went through this with my son. He was assulted, spend 10 days in a coma, on life support, had a stroke and multiple seizures all as a result of this. They (the docs) told me "I" didn't get it and needed to prepare for the worst. Granted it was all very frightening. He spent 3 long months in the hospital, 3 years of therapy learning to walk, talk and eat all over again. Came home with a feeding tube, etc. which I ended up quiting my job to take care of him at the time. Not knowing what I was in for, many difficult days, but today...He functions with little differences from prior to the assult.

It isn't easy and it is a long road, but you would be amazed at how people pull through these type of things. I will keep her in my prayers.

******NEVERMIND******** Bad news.

Terri has taken a hard turn downward. They had to re-hook her to the ventilator and reinsert the drains in her injury. Keep praying.

Sending prayes to your friend

Hope she makes a full speedy recovery.

Good News!

I think it will be quite an amazing experience for Audrey when she first hears sound & amazing for all of you. I'll be interested to read your posts when that happens.

My husband is doing well now, has made a lot of progress in just the last few days. At his follow up appt, the doctor said he may get by with only this surgery & not need fusion. I sure hope so.

Several years ago, we checked on cochlear implants for my husband---poor guy---he's falling apart. He has become profoundly hard of hearing & wears 2 hearing aids which help a little. Although his hearing is just awful it's not quite bad enough for the implants---yet. The doctor said then that children do amazingly well with them & adapt to them easily, but older people not so much. Anyway, keep us posted!

Hi Judy....

Thank you for asking about Audrey. She is doing fine now, back to her normal feisty little self:-) Oy, red heads!

She gets her units on and turned on March 9th. They wait a while for everything to settle down in the ears after surgery, then they will put them on and see how she reacts:-) I can't wait!

How are you guys doing? How is your husband?? I hope he is doing well and on his way to full health again.

Amy and Sophia

Continued prayers for your friend...

Your update sounds like positive news but she'll probably have ups & downs during her recovery process.

And I've been wondering about your little granddaughter & her cholear implants. How is that going? How long before they turn them on for her? I'll keep her in my prayers too...happy.gif
