O/T: Showing off beautiful NW Ontario. (LOTS of pics)

Being in the tourism business and living in such a beautiful area, we take PLENTY of pictures. And some of them actually turn out not too badly, lol.

Thought I'd share some with you now...

This is Caliper Lake, as seen through the patio door of our house...

[linked image]

Some of our guests coming in from a morning of fishing...

[linked image]

Caliper Lake has some of the most gorgeous sunsets...

[linked image]

This was taken when we went for an evening boat ride...

[linked image]

Saw these guys right out in front of our cabin #5...

[linked image]

Another view of Caliper from our shoreline. You can see a bald eagle flying...

[linked image]

The same eagle before it took off...

[linked image]

Another beautiful Caliper sunset...

[linked image]

Anyone recognize this little guy? I don't see them often here, so I don't have a clue...

[linked image]

A huge flock of Canada Geese dropped in on their way down South. I counted over a hundred...

[linked image]

Lots of Baldies around here...

[linked image]

Beautiful evening for some casual fishing...

[linked image]

A winter shot (this year) of Caliper Lake...

[linked image]

If you look on the left side of the last photo you will see a small island. This is the cabin on that island. It belongs to good friends of ours from Michigan. I took the photo from our shore line, which is 800 yards away. I'm impressed with our camera...

[linked image]

The view straight across the highway from our main lodge. We have literally millions of acres of untouched timber land in NW Ontario...

[linked image]

This was from a freak snowstorm we had on April 27th a few years ago. You can see that the ice had already gone out on the lake, and our boats are lined up on shore, ready to put in. The big snow drift going down the left hand side of the photo is supposed to be the road into camp...

[linked image]

Thanks for looking, hope you enjoyed! And if you are ever looking for a great trip to see some of the prettiest country, you can't go wrong anywhere in NW Ontario! happy.gif

Wow, very beautiful

is your house right on the lake, or were y'all renting a cabin there? If the former, it must be wonderful to have a view like that year round.

Gorgeous photos!

Your lake is so beautiful - this would be a great vacation spot! Maybe some day....

here is a link to Temagami..

http://www.temagamivacation.com/photogal.asp

we faithfully drove 7 and half hours to get there each year for over 20 years in a row to go there for one week, maybe two. georgous place to visit. very very pretty.
have not got back there in a few years...

would be nice to go where the bald eagles are for vacation.
I thought they would be in northern ontario at Temagami but only seen an osprey that was about it..lots of other birds but no eagles..
they love the open lakes..and such too..
must be good fishing if the lake attracts eagles..

thanks for sharing

awwww I am so homesick....

i need to book my ticket home asap!!!!

Thanks Pat...

We are an hour North of the Ontario/Minnesota border at Fort Frances/International Falls. Also about an hour south of Kenora. We are only a few hours away form the Manitoba border. In fact, if my history is correct, this part of Ontario once was part of Manitoba.

Loads of baldies here. In fact, I even saw a pair mating, which is wild because they are airborne when they mate.

I have only heard of Temagami, but what I did hear is that it is gorgeous.

Thx for looking happy.gif

HERE I thought Temagami was beautiful but wow wow wow..

that little bird is a purple finch.. YOU likely have more of them around..but they are seldom seen unless you have a good bird feeder.

wow..the eagles I am soooooooooooooo impressed. thought I might have to get out to BC or Alerta to see a few but maybe just need to get as far as you to see them. where about are you exactly??

I am all about the scenery of Northen Ontario....

how bad are the bugs..LOL? had to ask that question..lol

You are in beautiful country there, too!

We are closer to Kenora, only a few hours to Manitoba from here.

Give that Stella a smooch from us!

Reminds me of our cottage

We have a place in the Rideau Lakes, about half way between Ottawa and Kingston. Just a summer place (i.e. no insolation) - can't wait for the warm weather to return so I can enjoy some more sunsets!

Very pretty, Dave! What's the closest major city - Sudbury? North Bay?
