O/T question about natural gas services and average cost of bills?

SO my husband and i moved into a new home last month and it's our first time having natural gas services in several years, we didnt have to pay for gas on the military base we were living on. Our new home is roughly 1600 square ft and our first bill with the gas company was about 90.00$ for 1 months service. Is this a lot or is this pretty good for gas service? My husband and i have been careful to not use to much hot water when showering or bathing as well as for laundry and washing dishes.I figure theres got to be some BDW's out there who have gas and can tell me if this is a normal cost of a bill? Just wondering...

Mine was $424.00 last month... I'll swap you for your $90.00 bil

What are you using the gas for in your house, and where do you live?

We live in the northeast and my house uses gas for cooktop, water heater, and home heating so mine is typically pretty high in the winter and in the summer "if" I turn the heater on in the pool.

I am trying really hard to keep my thermostats down to 60 degrees because it makes a huge difference.

My natural gas bill in winter is FAR less than my electric bill

For most of the 15 years I've been in my house, my natural gas bill has usually been around $85 to $120, depending on how cold it gets, and assuming my natural gas heater is actually working (it's a long story but I've had problems with it for three straight years).

Your bill sounds pretty reasonable. My electric bill, on the other hand, kills me in July, August, and September. During those months it's around $350 per month. So I usually look forward to the natural gas bills. During the winter months, my electric bill drops to about $110 per month.

Hopefully we're going to have some gas wells soon and I could use use the royalties.

I use propane for heat and I haven't had to buy any this winter.

I live Southern California and my house is 1895 sq ft.

The most recent gas bill was $93.00. This includes...heat, laundry, water. I keep my thermostat at about 69 during the day and 65 at night.

and gas was about $190.00, and $70.00 for electric. I keep my house at 72 during the winter at all times becasue I also have a Parrot and a Macaw. winter averages around $230-250 per month total and you can bet 75% is gas for heating.

Well i'm not 100% sure to be honest

I know we use gas for hot water and maybe heat i'm not sure though. But our thermostat stays at 60-65 no matter what. And we keep it at 60 unless it gets down below freezing and then we bump it up to 65. We are so paranoid about having high bills we get extra blankets or socks if we're cold, lol. For the summer i'm going to get us a pool pass to the local water park so we don't sweat to death this summer,lol... And now that we have a yard Dozer is going to get his first kiddie pool, yay!!
