O/T: major Facebook problem . . . need help

Okay, I think I may have made a mistake today, i.e., I opened a Facebook account. Now my email box is getting bombarded with emails from all kinds of people who made me their friend. I don't mind that at all from the people I know, such as people on this board, but I don't even recognize the names of about 90% of the people. My problem is that I don't have the time to go thru all of those unfamiliar peoples' emails every night, especially if it's going to be 40 to 50 emails per night.

How do all of you deal with this situation? Is it an every night thing, or does it taper off after your account has been open for a few weeks?

It will slow down for you Gary.---

You'll just end up with emails from people you have responded to, or friends that have made a response to someone you've responded to. Usually I'll just delete the facebook emails, but sometimes I'll see responses that I want to check out too.

You can see the latest updates by your friends if you go to the left hand side of the main page of fb, and click on "status updates"...it makes it a little bit more manageable, esp. when you haven't kept up everyday. happy.gif

I think I know how to stop the e-mails

I believe you go to your facebook page. Up at the top of the page you will see settings. Click on settings and then click on notifications. I think if you unclick the send e-mails, that will stop the e-mails from coming to your box

drives me crazy too!

I have tried to change my account setting but nothing seems to help. I'd rather not get any facebook emails.

Thanks

I'm starting to get the hang of it. It was a bit overwhelming at first, especially all the strange names I do not recognize.

hit "delete"button in your e-mail when you see "facebook"...

post. You can catch up on your facebook stuff by just going to your facebook page, so why reading the same stuff on e-mail? Plus you can edit names afterwards, or rather the "feed" from those folks so that you only get updates from those you really care about. You will get a hang of it after a while happy.gif

NOw....can I be your facebook friend, LOL...
