the British actor (Robert Pattison) who plays the main vampire (Edward Cullen) in the Twilight movies got himself in a bit of hot water during a recent interview with Details magazine. He stated that he was "allergic to vaginas," which has caused an uproar among many of his female fans, along with many, many very insulting posts about him on web sites.

I'm wondering if perhaps those words were misunderstood because they might be British slang that has a different meaning. For example, back in 1960, Alfred Hitchcock made the movie Psycho. During the movie, it is said that Norman Bates' hobby is "stuffing birds," which Hitchcock later said in an interview was British slang for raping girls . . . something he could not explicity state in the movie because American censors were too uptight back then. So he cleverly got around the censors, and sort of tweaked them, by using the slang phrase of "stuffing birds." Do you know if the phrase "allergic to vaginas" is also British slang with a much different meaning than that perceived by many of Robert Pattinson's critics? The poor guy is now getting savaged on the internet. It didn't help that he further complained in the same interview about a photo shoot wherein he had to sit around for about five hours with naked models who were part of the shoot.
