O/T: Freezing rain started here last night and...
Submitted by DavRox on April 21, 2010 - 12:33am...is still falling this morning.
It is TREACHEROUS here. Absolutely everything is covered in a layer of solid ice that is wet on top. The ground, the roads, buildings, and vehicles.
It's nearly impossible to walk, and I shudder to think of driving. The highways department are out spreading salt on all the major roads, but it's the back roads that will be especially dangerous.
Luckily we can stay put, nothing pressing us to travel anywhere. But I really feel for those that must travel. That is, if you can even get into your vehicle. Everything is iced shut...people will have to use heaters or blow dryers just to break into their own vehicles. Pretty scary stuff.

Odd weather here in Bruce County Ontario too David...
calling for high of 6C tomorrow..and rain the next 2 days..then turning to cold and blowing snow on Tues. with a low Wednesday of -15C. that is cold cold cold
I do not like freezing rain. we seldom get it here and when we do I park it inside..
not fond of ice at all.

I really don't like ice storms because usually our electic goes out. They're beautiful but dangerous. Stay warm & safe.

I fell once too, when one of my kids was a baby...
...i was carrying her out to the car and as I crossed the lot my feet both went out from under me. I can remember thinking on the way down "protect Meagan"...it was almost like slo-mo. So I did this funky twist thing in mid air and turned so that I would fall on my back and I just held that baby tightly to my chest and then just...fell.

The baby was fine, but I was really hurting after that.
But that was years ago and, luckily, there doesn't appear to be any lasting damage.

Oh my... your car looks preserved until the Spring. =)
Eeeek. That's awful. We had an nice storm like that once and it rendered everything useless for miles because no one could go anywhere, power lines were ruined... it's scary! Good thing you don't have to go anywhere... stay safe!!!!
