O/T: anyone know anything about epoxy or acrylic floor tile grout?

I have someone coming by in three weeks to install ceramic tile in my family room. I want to make sure the grout is water proof (and urine proof, in case of accidents). Does anyone know if epoxy grout and acrylic grout are the same thing? If not, are both water proof?

Thanks.

glad to hear, she's a smart kid

She should be just about full size right now, might gain a few more pounds. She looked great in the last pictures i saw.

Re: O/T: anyone know anything about epoxy or acrylic floor tile

you will ned to let it cure for 21 days and then use a sealer on it,

[linked image]

We had the whole job done for us and I don't know

what products that they used....
I do know that epoxies are formed when a resin and a hardener combine forming a chemical reaction that ultimately causes the combined products to cure or harden. ALL epoxies are extremely durable but I don't know if Acrylic's are actually even more durable in the form of a grout.
Acrylics if I am not mistaken are just a form of plastic...Liquid plastic until a hardener is combined causing the liquid to solidify. We have an acrylic floor in our garage and I know that it is more durable than an epoxy floor would have been but I don't know what the differences would be in regards to grout...I can see how it could get confusing...

Thanks, fortunately, a friend is doing the installation for me

my back was injured when I was rear ended in 2005, thus re-sealing grout every year isn't an option for me, so I decided to spend the extra money on the water proof grout. I just hope it's as good as they say.

Flynn is doing great, and yep, got the CD

thanks a lot. I'm not sure how much Flynn weighs now, but she is almost as big as Clovis now, so I'm guessing she's around 45 lbs. Hard to believe she's already almost 6 months old.

One thing that is fantastic about her is that she is super well house broken. One day, she somehow got the bag of dry dog food off the counter (well, I think it was actually my cat who probably pushed it near the edge to where Flynn could grab it). She ate like crazy.

I came home to find the bag had been dragged into the family room and there was kibble all over the carpet. Flynn seemed fine tho. Until about 9 pm that night. Then, when I took her out for a walk, she had terrible diarrhea. Same thing when I took her out again at 11 pm. When I went to bed a little while later, I knew that night was going to be the ultimate test of her paper training. Especially since by then she was mostly going outdoors to potty. I was concerned she may have forgotten her paper training, and I expected to wake up and have to call a carpet cleaning company because there would be diarrhea all over my carpet. I was amazed, tho. Flynn had gotten up off the bed several times during the night, held it long enough to make it from the bedroom to the kitchen where I had put down a lot of paper for her, and pooped on the paper 5 times out of 5. The diarrhea was so liquid that I am amazed she made it during her walk, or trot, from the bedroom to the kitchen (it's a pretty long distance). But she was amazing.

Fortunately, she was back to normal by that afternoon. Amazing recovery.

Well damn, does talking about grout make you ladies . . .

horny, lol? Maybe I should try that line more often. You know, go up to a woman in a bar and say "Hey Babe, I like your grout." And then when she says "Those are wrinkles, you Moron," that would really get her blood flowing. Okay, so I better stick to the Zodiac question. It's such a classic, lol.

Re: Well I was HOT!

Hey, I was trying to get you to go to my room in Spokane. You are still hot!

If price is an issue, epoxy is probably 4 times more

expensive and installers charge more to use it. Regular grout can be sealed to ensure water/stain proofing.

We sealed

our grout in the kitchen and bathroom and was told we should redo it every 6 months. We haven't resealed yet and it's been 2 years. The grout looks great. We don't have pools of water left on the floor...except Ester does a pretty good job of slopping water around the water dish.

I thought all grout had to be sealed.

Will be interested to hear what the others say.
