In just one day. Our new bully came in, walked straight to the sofa and hopped right up. There is just no convincing her that she should not be there, I've tried having a talk with her about it.

yeaaaa, we LIKE Meaty on the couch with us, doggoneit!!!
I was just reading a book about being a good doggie owner (and we are.....I would NEVER let him on someone ELSE's furniture!!) and yeaaaaa, I know it's important that he knows WE are in charge......
BUT.....there are other ways to let him know we're "The Boss"......and to be honest, when he first started jumping on the couch, we weren't going to let him, but that SWEEEEEET wittle face!!!!

My lab was never allowed on the couch. And she is a good girl so she didn't try. Well then Mr. Toby came along and seems to do what he wants, including sleeping on the couch.
Like here: Doesn't he look comfy? He is on about 3 pillows, a quilt, and he has his bunny.
So of course we couldn't tell Sadie she was no longer allowed on the couch. This is what I came home to the other night: She used to look guilty when she got on the couch, but she clearly has gotten over that, lol. And look, she even has her own blankie, too! (but of course the cat is sleeping on it!)

as Bruce and Jackie will explain to you, it is THEIR sofa, house, and bed.

Boris has taken over an entire sectional...
He uses the other sofa as a scratching post. Drives me crazy!

Boris
Yes well...
I've gone through two couches and about 10 sofa covers in the last 10 years. Absoluetly no link to the fact that I have a bulldog...
Your core error was in believing it was YOUR sofa, or your house
as Bruce and Jackie will explain to you, it is THEIR sofa, house, and bed.
