Found out that OEBs are CKC registered and not AKC registered. Breed apparently acknowledged by CKC in 1971. Supposedly healthier because of less smooshed face.
I don't know about Abbey, only time will tell. Dummy me, should have asked WHERE she's registered, huh? (CKC or AKC).
I'll continue to send pics, may upload some tonight. Will try and figure out how to make pictures less large.
Thanks for all the support. I know Abbey's not American Bulldog, she's too short for that. She's either mixed with boxer (but think she's too short for that too) or is OEB, or who knows, maybe she's AKC and an just disproportinate at this time.
I'll let you all know if I ever receive papers!
Thanks and to those I've communicated with this morning, you've been GREAT!
OE Bulldogges
Hi Stacey,
I've got a 18 month old Olde named Arthur and he is a great example of the breed. I am very interested in seeing some pics, feel free to e-mail anytime.
The breed has been established with a standard for 30 years, (so they cannot be denied status as a bulldog.
We were looking for a bulldog after our Peke of 14 years passed away when we found Arthur. He's everything a bully's supposed to be!, and we're extreeeemly proud of him.
Take care, looking forward to pics

Slightly Irritated
I know yall hate when someone posts as anon, and I am not trying to start a fight. Please stop and think about what you say... you can be very hurtful without meaning to. Someone else posted that many of the dogs on this board are mixes, whether or not their owners know it or not. This is totally correct, and it does not make the dog any less wonderful. I understand that some on this board are very into the showing aspect and they look for those specific bulldog traits. Others of us are looking for companions. When our dogs are criticized for not being breed standard, or we are told its OK they are not bulldogs, it can be hurtful. I love each and every bulldog on this board, despite which traits they are lacking or which pedigree they are from.
Please dont tell people its OK they have a mix- why point it out at all??? My own baby is a mix, and I have always thought she was the cutest puppy in the world, but after posting a picture of her here, I was informed of all her faults. I have not posted pictures since.
My puppy's docked tail is actually a blessing for us- we dont have to clean up any messy bottoms. Her fewer wrinkles require less maintenance, and her breathing is easier. She also seems to be more active and energetic than other bulldogs we have been around. I am NOT advocating the breeding of OEBs or Victorians, but I am not willing to discount them as bulldogs.
Just please try to consider someone's feelings when they post their babies pictures.... If you were to post a picture of yourself would you like someone to say that you are fat, short, or otherwise different than the model person??
I'm sorry you feel that way..but...
The lady who owns Abbey was asking for our opinions!
Emily
That's why I jumped in...because she ASKED for OPINIONS!
Don't worry, I've got my fair share with my dog too...I was even hesitant to post pics when I first got him.
Some people are jerks...but some really just want to learn and ask questions.
I don't think you should be afraid to post pics of your baby that you LOVE!
just saw the pic..
and emailed Stacey.=)
Stay with us.
Bulldogs weather english or Old or and mix in my book the best of all breeds And I believe with time you will see it in her. She is cute.
Willing to bet OEB...
That's ok...she's still a doll.
Stacey..
Please try an post pics again, I didnt get to see Abby's pic.
stay close...and more pictures would be
a delight to the eyes...smile...ce
I missed the earlier pics.
As long as you love the dog and she is in good hands, that should be all that matters.
Clem
Stacey,
I am severely technilogically challenged. I don't have a scanner nor a digital camera.
Boxers-I also grew up with Boxers. Love the breed, I was just looking for another breed that was a little more subdued. Our Boxers were great because there were 5 very active kids in my family so the dogs fit right in. We also had a Pug named King Kong.
I can't seem to get away from the smoosh faces, although my husband and I now have a JackRussel. Poor guy has a real nose.
Lynn K
What ever she turns out to be
she is beautiful and we want you here.
Picture?
Can you post a picture of him for me?
This would be so ironic if it were a boxer mix. I was raised with boxers, we bred them in Hawaii as I was growing up.
My husband and I bought one in Hawaii, Tyson (named after chicken -- for those of you who have boxers you know what I mean!) and we brought him to Texas.
He lived 12, wonderful years, but it was oh, so, painful to see him go, he died in a matter of six, unexpected hours on our couch. That was January and I still tear thinking about him. We bought another boxer, Gypsy, and now, I wonder about Abbey's lineage.
Maybe the boxer line is just my calling!
Send me a picture if you can!
I've seen the pics...and this is my objective opinion...
I think she isn't OEB, but that she is a boxer mixed with a bulldog type of dog.

Emily
But phooey, if you thought you bought a bulldog then that's good enough by me for you to stay on this board.
We really do love all animals, from snakes and turtles, to baskets full of kittens....and even those precious mixed breeds too.
BTW, my Moop is hardly the bulldog spokesman himself
English Bullies with docked tails...
Let me start by saying tha tsince I got Henry, I have learned so much about what is and isnt supposed to be. The tail isnt supposed to be docked. I know that now, but didnt when I got the HeMan. Actually, I thought they WERE supposed to be docked. The BYB that I got him from docked the puppies in his litter, except for Henry because she liked his screw tail. We looked at pups before we found this woman and they had been docked too.
So it is possible to have an English Bully with a docked tail. Henry isnt the best "show" quality of the breed, but it fullblooded (not mixed). His brothers and sisters are full blooded and are short but not wrinkly like he is and have docked tails.
Maybe she is English but just not a GREAT example of the standard and has a docked tail. Who cares? - Except you paid a lot of money for her and I think you should be following that issue VERY closely.
The point is- she is a cutie pie (I found her pic) and you love her. That means you both definitely belong here and we are so glad to have you!
I saw her and.........
as long as you love her,, in heart of hearts does it matter really. I know you wanted a bulldog but she is so cute, she sure does have bullie in her thats for sure, and she also has a home that will love her.
Well said

Clem-my Bulldog wannabe
Stacey,
Clem, my 11 year old guy is probably not full Bulldog.
I have always suspected he is crossed with Boxer.
He is all Bulldog in temperment, the first day we had him, I told him if he made me laugh once a day, I would keep him forever. That was 8 years ago, he has more then held up his end of the deal.
The Clumpster is the love of my life. I fear his aging more then anything. He rules my pack of 3 other dogs with such ease and confidence, I don't know what we will all do when he leaves us.
He sleeps between my husband and I, on many occasions I have awakened with no pillows but Clem looks darn comfortable. He hogs my sofa and will bark until someone covers him with "his" blanket and we move the foot stool under his head. I wouldn't have my life with him any other way. I could go on forever. I truly do love him.
The point I am trying to make, is the love we have for our dogs isn't attached to their pedigree.
By the way, I think your pup is absolutely gorgeous.
Have fun
Lynn K
Well the way I see it...
if it turns out that Abbey is an Olde English Bulldog, then she's a classic!
I've read a lot about the history of the Buldogs and the OEB, both basically the same dog in different stages of human-inspired transformation.
And I really think she's soooo cute!

Forgot to say...
Welcome..we all love your pup. I just feel bad that you may have purchased her thinking you were getting a pure-bred. Whether she is O.E.B. or Victorian Bulldogge (another breed that some people try to pass off as "Bulldog") she is still your love and that's all that matters. Please stay on the board and give your girl big hugs.
