Reno, NV has their own bulldog rescue. I had been looking at bullies for quite a few months and came upon this site that lead me to the rescue link. They had the cutest little boy, and i put an application in, but the family before me became is forever home. Josie Louise was their poster child becasue she was such a mess and had such a long way to go that she wasnt ready for adoption. I asked if i may have her come and check out my house and see how she reacted to the froo froo just to "see how she would do." well it was a hot summer day and this long tailed, mangey, scabby, feet exploding with IDCs, cutest hippo headed bulldog came and sat on my front lawn to meet me. she liked the froo froo, liked the inside of the house, and especailly a backyard with grass and shade trees, with a nice high fence. well her foster mom was very happy with my receptiveness to such a pathetic, sad, unhealthy little girl. she said that maybe Jazman (that was her name then) might be able to be homed after a couple of more mitabahn dips, and
another trip to the vet. So back up 3 months.....Jazman was taken from a shelter in central california by my rescue group here. she was a puppy mill mom who escaped her horrible environment and was picked up by animal control and taken to a shelter. she had droopy boobies and they expected she had a litter(s) in the not so recent past, and had them naturally. They drove clear to central california and picked her up and never looked back. so flash forward 3 months. Her foster mom was concerned with her bonding with her, so she was given a clean scrape, but still had skin issues. I said I dont care, I will take care of her and you can mentor me. It worked great, Josie Louise loves everyone, and loves me with a passion and I do her as well. Her skin is slowly getting better, no IDCs, her pads are still stained yellow from her living conditions, but she is getting healthier every day. The SOB that had her, contacted the shelter in central californis and wanted his "breeding bitch" back. he was greeted with the reminder of animal cruelty charges, and he disappreaed. So that is my Josie Louise rescue story. She still makes me cry sometimes when I look at her, but she never held a grudge with humans. she LOVES everyone. J & T

I am loved
she looks me in the eyes and I know exactly what love looks like! Her eyes are so telling. I just cant imagine not having her. She is a gift beyond expectations. She is so fun to have around and go places with her. She is really my buddy. Thanks for looking. J & T
I do that alot
especailly when she is stretched out on the bed snoring her big hippo head off!! she brings tears to my eyes to think of what she went thru, and how loving she is now. oh yah, and silly!
Celine you are right
I am the lucky one here!
thank you
i think her beauty is amazing in that she thinks everyone is a "good person." her faith in humans was not jaded even with her horrible first 2 years of her life. Amazing.
re: Josie
That is a very sad story with a fabulous ending! you and Josie are so blessed to have found each other. I am in awe of people who have the ability/additude/? to nurse a dog back to health from such a horrid state. She is beautiful and in the last picture you can see how shiny her coat is and she KNOWS she is loved! Lucky girl
