When Gertie Drinks water she gets her whole neck wet and she really stinks - I just gave her a bath, I wipe her down with baby wipes... Why does she still smell???!!!
It just when her neck is really wet from the water, maybe it's a mixture of her rolling around outside and always being soaked. When she's dry she smells fine... Her face and wrinkles smell fine and so do her ears - go figure! I'll check with the vet this afternoon.
(not at first anyway)But you're right you CAN usually smell it! If it's deep in the folds though you may only get a whiff of it when it's wet. As I'm sure you know B/dgs faces were designed to let the blood from their prey run away from their face down the folds of skin, this could account for you noticing the smell on her neck and chin as the water runs out or her creases. Theres nothing wrong with a smelly B/dog anyway!lol:) Julie.
I'll check that with the vet today - Gertie's getting her shots' this afternoon, But can't you usually see Yeast? And it smells when she's wet only... Maybe I didn't clean her enough!!!
The wrinkles tend to often be affected with "candida" same family as "thrush" I get "Fuciderm" from my vet when Marilyn has a flare up. (may be called something different where you are) My vet told me to save money, "Canesten" for humans available at the chemist is perfectly safe (again it may come under a different name) Hope this helps. Julie.

When bullie wrinkles stay wet they start to smell. I think its bacteria. Maybe it something like that. Sounds more than what i had metioned earlyier. Someone will know and will post. Try and keep it as dry as possible. Good Luck "this to shal pass"
Its not like a wet doggy smell - its like she got wet and rolled around in something - Im assuimg because her neck has been constantly wet and I mean her WHOLE neck, I think she goes swimming in Milos waterball, I thought surely it would go away after her bath, but nope it's still there!

Is it possible it's coming from her ears...???
...Maggie got a yeast infection in her ears shortly after bringing her home.. Maybe from a change in food..?? Just a thought...
You can't always see it.
