usually all bulldogs loved to sleep on the big bed I thought..
but Gus
he insists on sleeping on the floor.
he stayed up on the big bed a couple of times..but does not really LIKE it there and barks for me to put him on the floor again.
WELL that was fine..put out a pillow for him and so on..on the floor.
UNTIL for some reason the last couple of weeks he is really being startled if I get up in the night..and he is starting to snap.
he is deaf...and they do that..
so I just moved the bed to another part of the room and he still lays right beside me side of the bed..and will not move..
the ONLY thing I can think of ..is crate him at nights but he would NOT like that one bit
the other thing is maybe get him to get to like the big bed somehow
or I GET OFF THE BED...in the middle of the night if I can remember ..lol on the other side..that way maybe not have to climb over Gus..
wow gotta love a bully like Gus..LOL
good thing he is sweet..
he is a great bulldog..just need some ideas on this type of situation
Bella is UP on the big bed..hahhahaha and she does not MOVE..ever.
why not just make sure you touch him first before you get out of
does he feel vibrations at all, like from clapping hands? It sounds like it's just that moment when he's suddenly woken up by you stepping over him that's startling him. That really is interesting, trying to wake up a dog that can't hear! Without scaring him to death and getting snapped at either. Need one of those backscratchers on a L O N G pole so you can scratch his back before you get out of bed.

Well if I Get up on the other side of the bed..and remember..lol
I can walk around the bottom of the bed and not disturb him
but do you know how hard that is to retrain your brain after
using the same side of the bed for years and years..lol
I am a dopey person in the middle of the night..
just going to have to get used to it I guess ...
well when he was on the big bed..whatever few times it was..lol
he would still do the deaf dog thing and get up and bark and so on..
but he slept like right on top of me almost..
and stayed there all night..
on the bed it much easier to just touch him and he is fine..or give him a kiss..
he is the most kissed bully on the board..kiss him all the time to help with him being startled..
NOW Bella on the other hand..wears a sign do not disturb when she is sleeping too. she really does not ike to be disturbed.. she will growl is someone gets to close to her sleeping at night too.. only if something or someone touches her butt..
Bella has been up on the big bed like forever but...
Gus he just does not like it..
My girlfriend suggested a night light but have one of them in the room and that does not help.
I think it might be easier to just get myself trained to get up on the other side of the bed..I can walk across the bottom of the bed and not disturb him that way.
sounds like he gets more startled..
on the bed, being deaf..and the floor is more "peaceful" for him, tho I would be worried stepping on him right next to the bed, cause when I get up Im very dopey!

probably be easier to convince yourself to get off the other sid
than to convince him to sleep on it. That is a big challenge! A lot of dogs startle if they are suddenly woken up, but you can't even get his attention at all without touching him. Even if you do get up on the other side of the bed, do you have to walk around it to the side he's on? You may have to touch him with somethin to wake him up before you walk into him.

I honestly wish I had that problem.lol
We sleep with 2 bullies on the bed, king size, but the problem is,If Dupree even moves a half of inch, Marley growls..if I move my feet, she growls, wakes me up cause she sounds so ugly! She hates to be disturbed, even tho she sleeps 23.5 hrs a day.haha!Savannah sleeps in my sons bed and joins us in the AM, where again..Marley sounds so vicious!I may have to do what my husband does, is wear ear plugs! HA! I'm def.not sleeping as well with her growling...
