NOT TO SHOW preference but who is your heart dog??

I do not mean to show preference here..but Gus is really becoming my heart dog fast.
he always at my feet
and always in my face..lol
and he is always in my heart..every minute of the day

I wander if that is cause he is deaf and I am always watching out for him..no idea. but I LOVE his playful nature....he bulldog antics and he is a great cuddler.. I would not hesitate in getting another deaf dog again ever either..he has showed me disablity that does not matter in dogs. what he does not hear..he sees. he speaks volumes with his georgous eyes..

do not get my wrong..Bella is in my heart too but not the same as Gus. she is far my independent then Gus and way more into the pugs..then me..lol. her pugs mean more to her then anyone else in the world. she plays with them and is truly bonded to them ..a mother hen..but a pack leader. she does better in her pack..then alone with anyone..

and what about you
sometimes one dog stands out as your heart dog..

as far as the pugs go..My rescue Max is a big part of my heart as well. he is the only rescue dog here and he has come leaps and bounds since he came here a year and half ago.

but NONE of the dogs measure up to Gus.
I LOVE all my dogs but Gus just tugs a bit harder at my heart sometimes..

what a cute pic...

adorable..
that it first word that came to mind..
really cute

Cody1970's picture

This is a tough question... (pic included)

each one of them holds a very special place in my heart & each one has such their own personality but...

[linked image]
Jackson holds a special place and I think it is more about the way he feels about me than the way I feel. He just loves me so much.

However, we all know that we would do anything for any of our dogs.

Amy O's picture

Oh man

Carmela is my soul dog. Sorry Roc. I told Carm that I would love her kids as much as her, but not the same way I love her. Gina my puppy, Carm's daughter, is a lot like her mama. I call her my portable version of Carm.

For me....

It's Addy....that girl melts me....she is a little bad and oh so sweet...but she looks at me with those eyes and I would do anything for her happy.gif

For Kellie...I would say Opie....thats her main man....her big squeeze happy.gif

But honestly....we couldn't imagine our lives without ANY of them.

Cheryl and The SittingBullies Gang's picture

I have been blessed with MULTIPLE "heart dogs"...

...right now it's a toss up between Chubbs & Gabe (though since Chubbs is sort of retiring from working with me, Gabe will probably just squeeze in there ahead of her happy.gif I have never bonded with Pip, like I have with my other dogs--got her at 8 months after she'd been traumatized in her previous kennel--she's very "needy" dog. I really like to get my dogs as babies right from their Momma--prime "bonding time" for me! happy.gif

In the past, it was Rosie...then she shared that with her daughter, Bear...then Gracie...Chubbs...Gabe...

I really think that doing OB with your dogs like I do, that you develop an extra special bond with them happy.gif

Karen and Ozzy

I would have to say Lily

she just loves me, with all my faults, with everything that I have done wrong with her, and believe me I have really screwed up with her, she just wants to be with me,

[linked image]

easy for me too!

Stella is our only dog.
she is my shadow, loves me follows me and will only REALLY listen to me.
She is good with the other family members but her and I fell in love with eachother from the start.
I cannot imagine loving another the way I love her.

Deborah and the NC gang's picture

now that is a hard question to answer

Griffin is such a momma's boy and mopes when I am not around...Gracie is a daddy's girl and sugar too...but I have a special place in my heart for Sugar for everything she went through...

Re: It's been hard

It is hard.
My lace went deaf and blind at 14 yrs old..
She handled it well.. When we moved we bought the same condo, and furniture the same position as old place..so she would not have issue with the new place. She was fine..
would have been almost 16 yrs old when she passed

Céline and Angel Stella's picture

Yup, no moving the furniture!

We can't even leave things lying around on the floor because she will invariably find them and trip on them. Hey, one of the side benefits of all this is that we've had to be more tidy! happy.gif

agree that is too cute..

Gus is right there is I am outta sorts though too
right in my face..lol
love this bully

too cute about Olivia..
that is soo sweet..

wow the more I hear..the more amazed I am ....

I had at one time here..3 blind dogs
2 pug rescues that were mine
and 1 blind aging boston ...

well I would take them for a walk and they knew the way home..no problem..at all.
they did fine but on occasion would like you said act like they were lost ..
or bump into things...too

I moved a chair one time in the livingroom here and all 3 dogs continued to go around that chair that was no longer there..for weeks it seemed
I no long move anything around
I still have the one blind pug here sometimes..
he does great.

sounds like the two of you are great for each other..
amazing how dogs adapt
even Gus here being deaf..
he just goes and continues as normal..
the vet told me straight up..
him being deaf will bother you ..far worse then HIM
and the vet was right

how cool is that, that she follows you

awful is right..wow too young to die...very very young..

that is soo sad
wow..unreal..very young

onslowsmom's picture

Mouth on mouth

Onslow does that too if we start hacking or something. I always thought he was making sure we're breathing. How funny that your baby does it too!

[linked image]

Céline and Angel Stella's picture

It's been hard

She's an amzing girl, for sure! She still bumps into stuff but, mostly, doesn't seem to care as long as she gets where she needs to go. Still, it tugs at my heart when I see her standing in a corner for no reason. I know she has lost her way - albeit temporarily because she always ends up back on her sofa.

What also amazes me is how she hasn't slowed down her walking pace. I would have thought she'd be more tentative, but she still barrels forward like a bulldog. I kind of wish she'd take it easier, but hey, that wouldn't be her.

I love it that she still wants to play and still gives me a full on bully dance when I come home. I just have to make sure she doesn't beam herself on something in her enthusiasm.

Thanks for your support, Chrissy.

what a sweetie Sue..great pic

she is darn cute..
and tiny
thanks for your imput
and thanks for the pic too..

My husband claims that Olivia is my alter ego.

She becomes very disturbed if I'm away from home for more than a day. If I am under the weather and sleeping, she will put her mouth on my mouth. My husband claims that she is checking my breathing. My Archie boy is a love lump and I adore him... but Olivia and I have a bond, even though she is a total slut and goes wild over my husband and my sons! (It just occured to me that as my alter ego, I have just claimed to be a slut as well. I'm not... or at least I don't think I am...)

I only have one also :) Celine it makes me smile when I hear how

has over come and from what u say she sounds like she still lives a wonderful normal life, all I kept thinking about was how you would explain to her when she woke up and couldn't see, I know our dogs understand us but maybe not the same as being to explain to a human what was happening and what to expect.. she is such a brave special girl happy.gif

Hope everyone has a great day

I did not know of the loss of your first husband. Very sorry to hear that. =(

Well....hummm

Penny my 12 year old miniature pinscher is my shadow and mommas girl. I got her at 8 weeks of age after my first husband died and we are very close. She tolerates other people BUT she loves me happy.gif

Delilah my other 12 year old miniature pinscher came to me as a rescue when she was 2 years old. She is daddys girl!

PollyAnna is my baby! She has ruled my heart with her paw the first time I picked her up. I don't know what I would do without her!

Hank spends 5 days a week with my mom and we have him on weekends..I love this boy but I do not have the same bond with him as I have with the other girls who live with us every day! He is a handsome little guy!

The heart dog....all of them happy.gif

Onslow has my heart and always will. =)

not a bulldog

I LOVE my charlie, but I admit it my heart dog is Izzy.
she is a delicate soul and on my lap 24/7.
seems like Charlie wants me..but izzy needs me

Hard to explain.

[linked image]

Céline and Angel Stella's picture

I only have one, so that's easy

But I've never had a pet shadow me like Stella does. Even blind, she follows me to the bathroom and helps me get ready in the morning.

Caroline-Mack-Stella's picture

thats easy

mack. i love them both equally, but mack is my shadow.

[linked image]

Olivia, definitely. My velcro dog...LOL

They're all very special to me but Olivia is my velcro dog, especially at night in bed. She has to be touching me all the time.

Hi Pat!!---

I've just been busy lately, and haven't really had much time to post. I'll have to try harder to come on to BDW and check up on everyone...there's been a lot happening around here that I've missed out on and I feel bad that I haven't kept up. sad.gif

I'm glad you were able to make contact with your son...it doesn't sound like a lot of fun being out in the frozen water in the winter time. And...he's not crazy; he's just smitten by the bulldog breed; it happens to all of us bullie owners! wink.gif

[linked image]

adorable bulldog....where have you been Barb?

I think we all love our bulldogs the same but there is something about Gus too that makes him special for some reason..
this is the first time I seen you posting in awhile.
you dogs are georgous..
seriously beautiful bulldogs

I have to admit,...

Rufus is my true love! Don't get me wrong, I love each and every one of my bullies, and they are so very special in their own unique ways, but there's just something about my Rufy!

did hear his name before.
Ester is very bulldogish...great name for a bullie
love the name..

Amy O's picture

aww thanks

she is named after Carmela Soprano. We love her name too!

Photobucket

Norbert was so much my heart and soul...Now it is Ester

my wild child. I can't imagine life without her.

a little bad and a little sweet..yea that is Gus too..

great way to put it..
Gus can be the sweetest bulldog in the world
and there are days that he can really get on my nerves..lol
but he is the one that holds that special place here

thanks for your imput

although not the same type of Training Cheryl with Gus...

I am sure that with training Gus all the time
watching out for him
and so on
we have created a stronger bond because of it.
I am always thinking of new ways to help him being deaf
what can I do to understand him better and so on
and then all the hand signs have been a hoot to teach him
he picked them up fast..so the bond just got better and better i think

I would have bonded right from the start with Gabe..lol
still think he is super wonderfull bulldog
the same as all your dogs but Gabe holds a special place in my heart too.
such a gentle natured bulldog

what a beautiful name for a bulldog..

Carmela..
that is one of the nicest names I have heard for a bulldog
love it
