That is wonderful news, Stephanie

Best wishes to you, your husband, and brother Angus. Have you decided on a name yet?

Wonderful news ......

Congratulations!

Congratulations!

When I had my two boys, we had a older bullie female, Abby. She did fine when I brought both of them home. I think she knew that they were babies and they must have smelled like me. She was older and gentle and slept a lot at that point. I never left them lying around on the couch or floor unattended where she could do anything to them, but I never worried about it either. Just use common sense.

Now I have the two boys and Flora. She loves them and tolerates them. Two rules are no leg pulling and no sitting on her. She's very gentle as well.

congrats on the upcoming bundle of love!!!n/m

Babies and dogs

Stephanie,

Congratulations!! You guys must be so excited.

The introduction of a baby into a household can be quite stressful for a dog. A lot of that stress comes from the equipment that babies require. To make it less stressful for Angus see if you can find an old play pen, car seat and baby carriage. Put the play pen up for a few days take it down and repeat often. Put baby toys in it so he can learn ahead of time that not all toys belong to him. Do the same with a car seat. When you walk him, take the baby carriage. These are bulky items and often scare a dog, you dont want the first time he sees these items to be the day the baby comes home.

Also, try to solidify commands such as "leave it", "drop it" and "relax" down. When you get the babies room set up, sit in the chair you will use and have Angus "relax". Sometimes a baby crying can get a dog excited and they jump up, you don't want that to happen.

Bringing your baby home will be stressful enough for you and your husband, getting Angus ready will be one less thing you will have to worry about.

Congratulations again

How GREAT!
Ok... Now I guess I can forgive you..LOL (just kidding)
Thats wonderful news! I am so Happy for you!

Yeah!!!

CONGRATULATIONS

Congrats!!! Yeah!!

I think as long as you dont neglect him he will be fine. Animals know. Also, he is your baby. He knows and loves you both...anything you bring into that house to love and treat with such care, he will pick up on and know to be careful with also.

Just love him, dont neglect him and show him how to "behave around baby". He will be fine.

(Just a tip...dogs cant be fooled with "pretend babies". I have tried this and the dog thought it was just another chew toy...lol. They know the difference between a stuffed doll and a living thing. -Just my experience.) Congrats!

Amy & Abby

Congrats

That is wonderful news, so happy for you and hubby. There is nothing more wonderous that when they put your newborn child in your arms for the first time. I had a gs when my first child was born and she thought she was the momma. Only problem we had was her being too protective of the baby. She would have giver her life for him. I am sure you will be fine.

congrats that is wonderful news..wonderful wonderful!!!smile

you have plenty of time...to worry about getting the pupsters ready...and we all will have tons and tons of advice..but for now just bask in the wonder and joy...hugs all round..I am so very happy for you ....take special care of yourself!!!!ce

We've had Josie around

the babies and she just sits and watch them and lays beside them . There shouldn't be any trouble they will be curious first and want to help but that's the parent in them. When the baby we babysit for crys Josise just kisses her hands to try and help.

Lots of good vibes your way and wish you and your family the best.

Congratulations...

How very exciting! I think you don't ahve to worry about Angus and the baby, just as long as you don't forget to include him in your plans or forget that he's also part of the family - which I'm sure you wont!

No advice...

but congratulations, and my birthday is December 22, so let's hope your due date is off by 2 days...lol. I have always loved having a Dec. b-day. Bullies are great, but human babies are my absolute weakness.

Congrats...

And everything will be fine! Just include Angus with all your plans!
