Nose ropes desirable?

So what's your opinion on nose ropes? Weighing all the pros and cons. Any difference between a pet or a show dog?

yes we do clean it EVERY day

and every single day it is gunky and dirty. She is more wrinkly now at 14 months old than she was as a young puppy.

While the split rope

is easier to clean, I like the full nose rope for looks... Cash has a thick heavy rope, it doesn't bother him breathing or seeing, doesn't ruin the look of his layback and it doesn't get too dirty. I clean it every few days with a baby wipe and then use Aveeno Diaper cream.

Scarlett has the split rope - I never have to make a special point to clean it, just when she has a bath. Which is nice!! Maintenance free happy.gif wink.gif

Re: don't know about pet vs show dog

Even with daily cleaning/care is it still the same? How often would you suggest to clean it?

don't know about pet vs show dog

but I do know that my girl's rope is hard to keep clean. I don't know if hers would be considered overdone,(I don't think hers is) but it does get quite gunky under there.

Nose Ropes

This was a conversation on the show forum awhile back. They are not mentioned in the standard but should not be over done. (ie impeding the sight, over going over past the tip of the nose).

They are personal preference and a split rope is much easier to keep clean then a big full rope.

I personally like a full(not overdone) rope.

Dozer's is a split rope....

and we hardly ever have to clean it unless we bathe him. And it's usually the split part under his eye that has more problems than the rope on his nose. It's so much less maintenance but i love the big cute ropes but not overdone.
