new puppy!!
Submitted by Anonymous on April 20, 2010 - 5:25pmwe finally made it home! my flight last night was cancelled so the airlines put me up in a motel for the night.. needless to say i didn't get much sleep, the puppy [royal] cried most of the night, and i think he was missing his mom and his littermates.
he has still been crying most of the day today, he won't stay in his kennel without crying super loud, making it impossible for me to take a much needed nap. is this normal? how long should i expect this if so?
anyways, here's a few pictures of him, he will hardly hold still! but he is the cutest [well, i think he is

i know, huh?? when i first saw someone else was getting a pup the same weekend as me, i thought maybe it was the same litter!!
haha, but sadly its not but maybe now royal can have a little girlfriend! hehe

i should move his crate into my room, he does seem a lot happier sleeping when he can hear me talking and stuff.

OH MY GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD what a hunk, he is incredibly beautiful!
We have had Gertie for two weeks and the day we brought her home it was the exact same thing.
She would scream in terror the second I put her in her kennel thinking that I was going to send her back on the airplane.
So - this is what I did - I made my bed on the floor right infront of her Kennel and I stuck my fingers through and touched her so she had human contact and just like a real baby I said - shhhhh it's going to be OK and that coaxed her, it took a good 15min for her to settle down - I did that for about 5 days, slept with her all night...
Now two weeks later shes great - she wines when I first put her in there because she doesnt quite like it but she is quiet after 5 minutes and conks out just give him EXTRA loving its like a newborn!

Congrats! He's adorable...
When we first bring a puppy home, we line their bed with an old t-shirt that one of us has worn for awhile. It smells like us and seems to comfort the puppy a lot.
