New baby with eye infection...

I had wanted a bulldog for over 10 years now, and finally got my beautiful baby boy! The first vet visit was last week, but 5 days later his left eye is swollen and red. He's at the vet with my spouse as I speak. Are eye infections common? The house breaking has been a breeze! Anyone with answers?

Eye problems?

Don't worry, these little guys are like kids. They get spomething every chance they get.

Eye lubricant along with med's is what the vet will prescribe. There's always the chance he poked himself while checking out his new house.

Good luck with your new baby........

May-be he got bit by something

It sounds more like a reaction if just the one eye is swollen and red.

Otherwise, no, just having an eye infection in a puppy is not really common. Of course, there are other possible eye problems (entropia) when they get older.

Besides a reaction to a bite, it could be he got poked or scratched in the eye, a rose bush, something eles???

Let us know what the vet says.

The answers that you already have are what I was going to say. Please let us know what the vet says.
And congratulations on your new baby boy, Winston. I hope that you will continue to come here and join us with pictures, fun, and some serious stuff too.

Re: New baby with eye infection...

Was it his actual eyeball that was red and swollen, or was it around his eye that was red and swollen? Could be cherry eye. There is info on the home page about it. Ruby had two cherry eyes, both were repaired and they seem to be fine now.
