You were inquiring about Diesel's path to recovery and his meds etc. This is waht we have done so far.
He has been on Ivermectin for Mange.
He has been on 2 different types of antibiotics but the one that worked well is Novolexin(sp?). This clears up his cysts, acne, and his ear.
Recently he has just recovered from a urinary tract infection.
His eye is still a little cloudy. He does not have entropia or dry eye. Vet seems to think its on its way to recovery but I may have her look at it again. His ear will always have thickened cartilidge but considering the ear canal was completely closed shut when I got him, not bad.
He is on Wellness Fish and Sweet Potatoe. The good news is he has a bowel movement only once a day, the bad news is it is diarrhea most of the time.
I keep him really clean in all his wrinkles, and chin, and the pads of his feet.
I really think this is just a matter of time for his immune system to get back on track. I am unsure how long he went with mange. Did Spike ever have mange? Just a thought. Good luck with him. A healthy dog is such a happy dog. You can see it in their face. It just lights up. I sure hope Spike gets feeling 100% real soon.

Try this...

A breeder recommended Clavamox(sp?) I am not very good at remembering these things. Patti might be able to recommend something. I am sure what Spike is on is the same or similar antibiotic Diesel is on. Good Luck.

Diesel will be two tomorrow...n/m

Thank you Cindy

Thanks for all the information. The drug of choice for Spike has been Cephalexin, I'll have to ask about the other one, as everything is starting up again (paws, eyes, ears). He's been on the Wellness Fish, but same problem: diarrhea. He's had Mange. Hope Diesel continues his path to health and wellness and continues to do well in the showring. Thanks again for the information, Nettie
