I bought a pattern for regular dogs shirts and coats, the pattern barely fits around the bulldogs neck! And that is a dog pattern!!!!!!!!!

Hey Gary, the owner of all the Uga's is Sonny Seiler of Savannah. I absolutely LOVED Midnight, and Savannah has always been one of my favorite weekend getaways even before the book. Now more people just know about one of my favorite towns. Sonny's wife was given a bulldog as a wedding gift back in the fifties and they being either students or recent graduates of U.G.A. took the dog to a home game there and a star was born . Uga's first shirt was a childs shirt that Sonny's wife cut down for the bully. I'm still looking for a shirt with a big G emblazoned on it so I can have my kids and Tank's picture made for their dad, who is possibly one of Georgia's biggest fans so if any of y'all find a bully shirt like that let us know!

Ron, since you don't have a Bulldog, just believe me. If you tried to put a child's t-shirt on an adult Bulldog, you wouldn't get very far. OK???

Call the U. of Georgia bookstore and ask if they sell them or can refer you to someone who does. If you are looking for shirts with Uga the bulldog on them, the Savannah lawyer who owns Uga has a web site, but I can't recall its address. I think his name is Sonny Weiler. You can verify that by taking a look at the book Midnight In The Garden Of Good And Evil. He was the lawyer who defended the antiques dealer in his four murder trials. If he doesn't have a web site, or you can't locate it, just call his law office in Savannah. Lu from this board lives in Savannah, so maybe she can get his number for you.

for an adult Bulldog. There is no way you can get the head and shoulders of a Bulldog thru a kids shirt.

Now, if you had a Bulldog, you might understand better. If one is talking about a puppy, then of course a child's shirt. But, there is no way you will get an adult Bulldog head thru a childs neck hole, and no way the shoulders and front legs will go into the arms. But, I know you won't believe me, so believe what you want.

Well this post really got me to looking for a jersey like Uga's. (OK, I'll admit it I have no life lol) I looked up and found lots of info on all of the Uga's that Sonny Seiler has used as the Georgia mascot, and have found out that the shirt/jersey that each Uga wears is custom made for that particular dog (its up to Uga VI now). As I said earlier the first one was made by Cecelia Seiler from a kids t-shirt she got at JC Penney and then stiched the "G" on herself. They are now made with actual football player jersey material by an Athens seamstress according to each dogs measurements. They even have their own little Nike swoosh. So it doesn't look like there are any doggie jersies out there to be had unless you make your own. I did however notice on the website posted above, that they have an embroidered "G" patch for sale and I would guess you could make your own with one of those.
I also found out something interesting when reading through all the Uga info, one of the dogs, I think it was Uga IV was only the fourth dog in the world to have his dry eye treated with cyclosporine(sp) so he is considered a medical pioneer by many.

My 8 year old daughter slips a kid's shirt over Arthur's head and front legs without a problem.
The kid's shirt is of course for 8-12 yr olds. LOL
