I have a friend in Florida who has a dream of opening a bulldog rescue sanctuary in hills of Montana someday. She's a fellow rug hooker, so I had someone draw up an imagined ranch pattern with hills and lawn and a big log house. It's not huge, so it would be difficult to hook wool into to it to look like little bulldogs playing in the grass.
I thought maybe she could put some little tiny bulldog pins on the rug when it is completed. Only problem is, where would you find something like that? They would need to be about the size of a post earring. Anyone ever see anything like that online? I don't rescue animals because I want to feel better about myself, or morally superior to anyone. The best part of my life with animals is the humility they teach and the humanity the foster.

Bentley approves of everything. He's always a happy boy..
unless his ball rolls under the sofa or a chair. He will just lay there staring at it and barking until we get up and get it.

It's only a good idea if.....................
Bentley approves. LOL..........
those are cute!
that last one is perfect if it's small enough.

I think it could work too..
She's excited about the pin idea, so if that doesn't work, I'll figure out how to shrink pics.

Well, that's okay. They went to a good cause..
Wonderful Maria emailed me saying she would be happy to send a few. I think the pins will make a cute embellishment to the rug. My friend is very excited about the idea. Can't wait to share a pic of the rug when it's finished.

Oh dear...two months too late...
I just donated a large number of bulldog stickpins to BCARN that were sold at the Nationals as fundraisers. Sorry...I didn't keep any.
And that's to say...
When I wrote "this is not what you're going for...' I meant the links that I provided may not be what you're looking for - NOT in response to Deb's awesome links. In case it looked that way, I wanted to clarify!

Always in my heart...
Elaine,
There is printer paper out there that is sort of like a fabric. I used it once for a picture years ago.

Maybe if you were to print a bunch of little rescue photos on there, and then somehow figure out how to attach it to a pin... somehow it could work...
Always in my heart...
good idea!
I'll try to find one.

wouldn't it be cute if pics of real rescues could be shrunk down
and laminated and glued to a post earring. She could fill her sanctuary rug lawn area with pics of real rescue dogs. After all, it's not a rug that you'd put on the floor. It will hang on a wall.

She would be thrilled if I could figure out a way to do that.

If anyone has any they would like to donate to "The Montana Bull
email me and I'll give you Lesley's address to send them to. She would be so thrilled to cover the hooked rug lawn area with little bulldog pins.

The dream of having a sanctuary is something she has talked about for years. Even if she can't have it in reality, she can have the rug pictorial of her vision.
I'm sure she will let me share pics when it's done.

One idea that springs to mind
I've seen bulldog tie pins on eBay often. Often Mack truck ones.
You could do a search on tie pins or lapel pins because they sound about the right size.
Or you could actually look into bulldog earings. I'm sure eBay would have some relatively inexpensive ones too.
