Need dosage help...

As I said below, Henry is licking and chewing his feet all the time. He always has really and I always thought he was just cleaning. It is ferocious at night! Like he is on a mission. I feel horrible but I never knew it could be allergies.

He has been outside almost all day (his choice). Now he is trying to lick and chew a hole in his foot. I have Benedryl but dont know how much to give him. I think it may be an ant bite or some other kind of bite that it bothering him.

Henry weighed 69.5 pounds at the vet last week. Is there anything ELSE I need to do for him?

feet licking

Junior, our 69 lb. bully, licks his feet at night too. My vet told me to give him two 25mg Benedryl tablets in the morning and two at night. He said to continue it for eight days. I think two makes him too sleepy and plan to cut back to one each time.

Benedryl

Hi,
You can give 1 25mg pill every 12 hours. That should help.

Re; dosage

If the area is not raw, you can spray bitterapple on it. Works well on paws, hotspotsm, and areas on known chewing. Use might decrease amount of Benedryl given over time that your bully could develop a tolerance for.

Good luck,

Been there too!

Madison's allergies were out of control until we found the Benadryl gel. You can apply it with a cotton ball to the area and it dries really fast and works even faster. The cream can be kinda messy Also, from your vet you can get something called Malaseb Pledgets....they are medicated wipes..like sridex...only with an anti-itch medicine...and they work great for wrinkles, too. They have a medicine in the that inhibits the growth of yeast...which as we all know is a problem in bully wrinkles. We use both on Madison and she is doing great. Oh, I would also say only one tablet of benadryl...just to be safe. Madison is the queen of allergies...so we've been around the block lots of times!

I hope I helped a little. Feel free to email if you have any other questions.

Good luck!

Kristen & Madison

Oops, never tried the cream...

but you could probably put that inbetween his toes, too!

Lincoln always has itchy paws...

he has red, itchy paws all year round and we give him one benedryl tablet, i think 25mg, in the morning and one at night. He weighs about the same as Henry, 68lbs. You might also try putting some Gold Bond powder inbetween his toes, I found this helps too. Hope that helps!

ok no Benedryl tablets but CREAM...

what about Benedryl Cream?

Ok I read down a bit to Kims question...

and I see the suggestion for 25mg (one tablet) per 50 pounds. Henry is about 70 pounds. ( 69.5 ) so what does that give me?

Winston went to the vet last weekend and was given benedryl

He weighed 57 pounds(he lost 5 since March) and the vet said one pill in am and one in pm

the little capsules u and i would take
