My thoughts on Cody, donations, and the "indian giver." -long

I have bit my tongue for a while on this issue. Now I am going to speak. (Sorry in advance Webby for my pot stirring, but I have a good point.)

Sometimes retail positions require people to take an "integrity" test. I had taken and given many in short retail career. The test is a psychological test and the point of the questions is to see how honest you are, whether you would ever steal on the job, etc. The questions are repeated over and over again in different ways.

The test asks something to the ilk of "what percentage of people would you say have ever stolen something..."
Multiple choice....a. 80-90%
b. 40-60%
c. 0-10%

And things like "what percentage of the world would you say is completely honest when being asked a question"

The answer that you pick is proven to be a psychological projection of what YOU really think or do.
So if you say that 80-90% of people steal, it is a safe bet you think about stealing or do it.

What does this have to do with Cody?! - Well it is my opinion that people psychologically project their own opinions/probable actions on others all day long. IF you think something is dishonest automatically I think we can suspect YOU to have the dishonest ideas in your brain and tendencies first. It has nothing to do with street smarts, just kinda like a "glass is half empty or full" theory.

I think the real family on this board is smart enough to figure out what I am saying....

I had no money to donate. I am busy on my own rescue mission. If you knew how much Georgia is costing us - you would faint dead on the spot. I can offer prayers and support. But money means nothing more than the intentions behind it. (Maybe I am sounding trippy, but I don't want take/give anyones money who I am owed an explanation too.) If you cannot donate freely and without strings, than you shouldn't donate at all. If money means that much to you, you better hold on tight.......

Sorry, I know this is all over the place...
Kris

Hi Georgia...very long but I think important

may I repley to your comments and hopefully prevent yet another go off on 'anyone'...
first I hear your words about why there may be some negative comments and I have to agree without everyone having ever single detail, it is hard for everyone to understand and then make up their own minds about the outcome..but I can do very little in that area..I have tried to be very open and honest and share all the details of Cody's quest.and no matter what I say it is still eveyones right to believe how they wish ..I personally have no problem with that...
what I do take exception to ..is the assumption that I am just another caring soul..but not what was pressumed needed in the beginning with Cody's issues...and health.
I am new to bulldog ownership..but I have been working and training dogs of all breeds for over thirty years.and lived with dogs for over 45 years.I have worked with vets, rescues,in dog water theraphy for injured dogs and trained dogs for working with autistic children.and workd with abused dogs at the shelter.
I have a college degree in animal care and animal psychology.
...and I have at my availablity some of the wisest and most experienced, and knowledgable bulldoggers that exist.
I say that to help clear up why I decide I could indeed meet Cody's many needs...I am no novice to special needs care.
As for his being a bullie anyone could care for please do not for one minute get the idea because you saw a smiling bullie emerging out of years of mere existance...that he isn't just as extreme as all the pictures you may or may not have seen...
Cody is deaf at this time..and the vet really holds little hope that he will have any hearing.
He has sight but it is impaired..
his walking gait is to the right ..and he often stumbles due to lack of balance.and needs to be carried in and out of the house at this time..
he is covered with open weeping wounds.
he has a lump of still undeterimed reason the size of a banana on the side of his neck and face.
his feet are swollen and infected..and need consistant care and soakings...
he has difficulty breathing and swallowing
and many of his teeth are broken.
his face folds have crust so thick it can only be removed a little at a time..and when it is the entire area is a deep gash..and weeping pus...as is tha top of his nose.his ears are full of open wounds inside and out.and on and on ..but I think you get the jest that Cody isn't a healthy boucing back, he'll be fine in a week fellow..he is a bullie of great pride and spirit and he really gives his all ..and ever kiss..every painful nuzzle...and every step he takes is a gift and an encouragement for him...please understand I am not putting this at you personaly but if you have misunderstandings then i am sure others do also.blessings and may this help clear the air...ce

PS

perhaps a post was missed along the way, things were moving so quickly, so therefore the questioning. I hope we could give everyone the benefit of the doubt, even those who pose a question. I kinda took it that somewhere along the way, some information was missed or misread or misinterpreted.

I understand what you are saying

How true about the analagy, half-full/half-empty. I have to remind myself sometimes about projecting because it's so easy to do instead of step back and realize where the feelings are coming from.

I couldn't donate money either because of my own donation bucket I need to donate to in order to keep my own rescue Spike healthy, but I didn't think the cause was unjust or wrong in any way. I do feel those who donated deserve the updates, but all along those updates were given and information was shared in great detail so it was confusing [to me] why there was a problem with any of it in the first place.

I can understand . . .

I can see how it seems to some that it didn't go as originally planned because the initial concerns over the dog's health problems see to have gone from insurmountable and requiring an owner who really knew her bulldog stuff to manageable by any caring person. By all reports and recent photographs, this dog could be well cared for by just about anybody Including me - I wish I wish!). So I do understand some of the "negative" comments.

agree nm

I apologize

I apologize if I came off as hateful. I never intended that. I think the last thing that I would ever be described as is narrow minded, however.....

Kris

Webbie, you rock!

I think we should all get a little gift of some sort...nothing big or fancy...

and send it over to the Webbies house! Or maybe flowers. His house would smell like the Garden of Eden...lol But how would you find the computer???? Oh Boy- the mischief we could get away then!

What an excellent job you do. Ive said it before and I'll say it again...

You are like a principal of a school. -One person overseeing a WHOLE tribe of children~ lol

-And you make damn near what teachers do too! LOL
Sad but true!

Great job!

Re: How exactly did this not go as originally planned?

The only thing that changed at all was Cody's new address. How does that warrant wanting a refund? Were you donating for the purpose of buying Kristae a new dog? Cause to me, thats the only thing that changed.>>

I agree Wendy, nothing changed except location!

How exactly did this not go as originally planned?

Im sorry but I just dont get it. I feel like we are beating a dead horse here. this issue has been addressed. The original plan was to save Cody (buy him away from the scum- cause that was the only way to get him out of there)and get him to a loving home and family.

Kristae realized he had WAY more problems than ANY of us suspected at the time and he would be better off in the hands of someone with a little more experience and ability to help him with those problems. That was extremely great of her. Im sure it was a hard decision for her but she made the right one. Noone expected him to be in that bad of shape.

The only thing that changed at all was Cody's new address. How does that warrant wanting a refund? Were you donating for the purpose of buying Kristae a new dog? Cause to me, thats the only thing that changed.

Im done with this. We pitched in to save a dog. It happened and Im thrilled we accomplished it. Excellent job eveyone! As I said, we have discussed this til its just plain boring now and Im done. If you arent happy with who now has Cody, then WHATEVER! I personally am thrilled with the outcome of the CODY MISSION.

Webmaster needs a raise

Anyone want to double my salary from $0.00 a week to $00.00 a week!

Well?

See I told you this board was a full time job for me!

Narrow minded and hateful comment

Anyone that donates money should feel that the monies are going to what ever because they were collected for. If later it is discovered that the monies were not directed in which they had been initially described then that person has the RIGHT to feel cheated and request their monies back if so desired.

For you to describe that individual or individuals as an ‘Indian Giver’ is ridiculous! Not to mention narrow minded and hateful! I think it would be best to keep such negative hateful thoughts to yourself!

There were some deviations from the initial plan to save Cody but in all it ended up in a very happy ending. Cody will benefit from this and that is the end result that should be considered here. A beautiful Bulldog is saved, now onto saving others!
