After speaking with Dr. Kinnear and some folks from this site, I believe part of what Rocky is experience is seasonal flank alopecia - spots (well, one for now) of hair loss with darkening of the skin of his sides.
But less sure about his skins problems -- the acne on his chin (quite a bit) and his very irritated wrinkles. Could it be that the food (Solid Gold Holistique Blendz) is too rich for him and not an actual food allergy? If so, what food would you recommend? He is a picky eater and has been subject to loose stools most of his life. Until now - ironically enough those have improved as of late. He also has fits of head tremors (minor ones - on Taurine per Doc. Kinnear).
Thanks again!
We've got it too....
Madison has flank alopecia, as well. We tried all sorts of meds for the bald spots, and pimples and wrinkles. Well, we finally stumbled on a combination that worked great for us. We did a 6 week food trial of Eukanuba K-O and we drastically improved! Hair regrew, coat was shinier and much less itchy! The vet said that the KO worked like a Fish and Potato diet. The protein, Kangaroo, was something Madison had never been exposed to and therefore shoudln't be allergic too. Well, we were conviced when the bald spots started to grow in. Also, worked great for her sensitive tummy. We've also had tummy trouble and been gassy, well the KO worked that out as well. You can get it from your vet.
I would HIGHLY recommend the KO and the Malaseb pledgets...all can be gotten from your vet.
As for the wrinkles and pimples, we us Malaseb pledgets every day normally and twice a day during allergy season. They are great. They have a medication in them that prevents yeast from growing...so they are perfect for wrinkles and puppy feet. They also cleared up the pimples, by preventing the bacteria from growning.
So, we are like a brand new dog. Now if we can just get over our recent knee surgery we'll be doing great!
Good luck. Let us know how you make out!!!
