Max aggressive toward Dog -HELP

I took him to a dog gathering last weekend. Not his first.

It seem that he cant get along with any Older or bigger male dogs. He try to pick a fight with every dogs in sight except when came to smaller male dogs or female dogs, he was cool and behave.Around those fella are the one pick a fight with him when Max play to rough with them.

He ok with human, even stranger but not male dogs . This is not his first gathering. I hv socialize Max with other dogs since puppy . It seem to be getting worse

This round more like he real serious about hurting other dogs . During the gathering. there was this one French bulldog which real on his list .. Any chance he saw the fella Max will charge and try to bite the fella ..

Anyone had this problem before He is 9.5 month now ..

yep

my two year old and my five year old. They learned this behavior together and feed off of each other. They too were fine until.. one day. They can get out of the tightest harness/collar to get at a dog that they really want:( They have always been socialized. This behavior seems to have appeared over night. One minute doggie happy hour and the next week we couldn't take them. They are perfect with people. They love my son's lab which they grew up with but he is a laid back dog... I can live with this but it makes me sad that I can't show off these beautiful dogs.

Annie is Also Very Dog Aggressive

During the last year Annie has decided she does not like other dogs period!!! We took her to puppy class at 3 months. She played with my cousins's dog as she was growing up. She never showed any signs of aggression until one day. It's like she just decided over night that she doesn't like other dogs. She lives with a cat and has no problems there. When I brought it to the board many people told me some dogs are just meant to be only dogs and that is the way they are. We have been working with her when we take her out for walks and there are other dogs. We have treats and make her concentrate on us and it is working (not perfectly, but well enough for now). However, she will never be social with other dogs and we know that and just love her as she is. She too LOVES people and is friendly in every other way.

Very common in dogs

that are not spayed/neutered. I would discontinue taking him to dog gathering places, he will hurt another dog. If you think about it, the males of most specicies fight for the right to breed and the assertive behavior begins during adolescents, including human beings.

Thats why, spaying/neutering in pets should be done around 6 months old, before hormones kick in.

Socialization during early puppyhood is very important, but unfortunately, some dogs just don't grow up to be social butterflies. I have seen puppy playgroups where owners have no idea that their dogs are being inappropriate with other dogs, or they think that they will work it out. Well, the problem is, they are learning plenty and as the dogs mature, they take those behaviors with them and adult dogs have far less tolerance for rough interactions and fighting breaks out.

Neutering him will help but I also strongly recommend you see a trainer/behaviorist, he/she can help you develop a training/management plan so that you and Max can safely go into public.

If you want, I will look for a trainer/behaviorist for you. Let me know where you live

Good luck

Blackjack is the same way...

The older Blackjack gets (now 2 1/2) the more agressive he is towards larger male dogs. He has always been fine with females of any size, but with males he starts fights left and right. The vet told me it is likely that the alpha male in him is threatened around other male and the best thing to do was to keep him on a very short lead when males are around. I hope someone has some ideas.

Not sure but him being unneutered could have something

to do with it.. since he is just now maturing... and it seems to be mainly towards older males..

Hi Judy .. No he is not neuter .

He only agreesive on older and bigger dog. He also not so friendly toward other bulldog as well .. Older bullies i mean

Is Max neutered.???
