Maggie is having surgery tomorrow... (pic)

..on her foot. We were back to the vet today and after 3 visits in 9 days, and no relief from antibiotics, epsom salt soaks and lab-work they want to remove the icky thing on the bottom of her foot.

It has grown to the size of a large marble and is terribly sore, keeping her from much walking. It's very clear she is in severe pain from it and we are thinking it might not be a spider bite afterall. Three different vets have looked at it and cannot figure out what it is for sure.

Please keep my Maggie in your prayers as she will go in for surgery tomorrow morning. We are very happy with our vet's group and they see several bulldog patients so they are familiar with the breed. I asked what type of anesthesia they use on her and was told isoflurine.. which is supposed to be one of the safer one.. Any comments would be greatly appreciated.. Thanks guys..

Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers tomorrow!!

Hope everything is going good with little Maggie she's in my thoughts and prayers

Hopefully it will allow the pad...

...to reposition itself back to where it's supposed to be.. right now the pad is being pushed off to the side. the vet was also concerned that after 9 days of soaking and antibiotics it just seems to be getting worse.. it's starting to affect the way she walks and the vet says it's time to go to more aggressive treatment. hopefully we are making the right decision.. Thanks for your well-wishes!

aww...poor baby!

My gosh, that looks painful! It looks so big! If they remove it, wont they be removing a large portion of her pad? Will that all grow back to normal? Poor Maggie!

I hope this fixes it and she feels better!

Robin, give Maggie a kiss for me....

That foot looks awful, I'm sure it does hurt the poor baby.

I'm anxious to see what they find out.

We will keep Maggie in our bully thoughts and bully prayers...

We'll be thinking of you and Maggie .....

I'll watching for your update.

Take care.

They haven't actually ruled it out...

...but it isn't responding to anything. They had another vet look at it today and he said if it was a spider bite of some sort the tissue should show some necrosis, or some sign of "dying." The redness and inflammation isn't getting any better and apprears to be even worse. The sample they aspirated came back as blood only with no sign of pus or a mass cell tumor. It is extremely painful.. Even after giving her something to take the pain away before the aspirating she screamed when they poked it. They are all stumped!! Thanks for keeping her in your prayers!!

Maggie!!!!!

I am sure it is a bite. I know someone who had a very strange reaction to a spider bite that I just remembered like that! Mine went away in about a month or so - but it didn't get like that.

Prayers and hugs to you guys! I will be thinking of you tomorrow...

From One Maggie to another...

I'll be thinking of you....

Awww

Best wishes tomorrow, Maggie. Looks like a little ulceration or like something burrowed under the pad. I've seen foxtails do this before. Hopefully that's all it is and she'll be back on her feet in no time.
