If a little box pops up in the bottom, it's someone trying to chat with you in real time. That might explain why they were aking if you were there over and over again.

..I think I can help you a bit with some Facebook stuff! "Gifts" are my least favourite thing about Facebook, they are so strange and useless and I hate having "you have 279 requests!" up in the corner of my page!

Always in my heart...

I have a facebook account but don't have the time to be on it a lot. I have some of the same questions. I was on it at work one day and some sent me an instant message and I couldn't even figure out how to respond. I ended up calling her because she kept asking if I was there! I consider myself a fairly intelligent woman, but I just need to spend more time there and figure this out.

you need a teenager at your house to get you thru all that Facebook turmoil LOL... just sayin'

The newsfeed is indeed part of your facebook page. It shows you all the recent acitivity of your friends. I'm at work right now and can't access facebook, so I can't tinker with it to see if you can set it to open up on your own profile, but do not fear, the newsfeed is your friend!

for a while, whenever I opened my Facebook account, the page that would initially show up was my Wall page. Now a "Newsfeed" page opens up. I'm not even sure what that is, much less why it now is sort of my home page for Facebook, or at least the first page that opens. As far as I can tell, this Newsfeed page is not even part of my Facebook account. I do recognize many of the people who post there, however.

So my question is: can you change which page your FB account will open up to?

Hopefully I can answer a few of your questions:

(Also, I'm still a bit confused as to how some aspects of Facebook works. For example, still haven't figured out what it means when someone says they sent me a gift and asks me to send one back. )

When it says so and so sent you a gift it is something like iheart, a drink, a balloon, etc. They are similar to icons (or gifs). They are cute little things that people send back and forth to each other. Around easter you can send your friends decorate easter eggs to collect. The are just icons of little eggs. When someone sends you are gift and you click on it usually it will say accept/send on back/ignore. If you accept it will be added to your facebook page I doesnt automatically show anywhere but you can locate them. If you chose send one back, it will bring up a list of all your facebook friends and you can pick the people you want to send them to. However you will need to agree to the terms/conditions of the company that made that particular gift/gif. I myself do not do this often because I feel it can open you up to viruses, hacking, etc. But that is just my opinion and I am not sure I am correct on that.

(Also, several people have left comments on my photos, but I haven't figured out how to reply to their comments.)

I had a hard time finding out how to reply also. Go to your photo albums and click on View comments. A list of comments will come up. Find the comment you want to respond to and to the right of it you will see the picture the person commented on. If more than one person commented on the same picture then the pic will only show to the right of the first comment.

Either way click on the picture to the right they commented on and once it comes up the comments will show underneath it. You can then respond back and forth.

Also if you look in the lower right corner of your main screen it shows a little icon for notifications If you receive one thats says so and so commented on your photo, you should be able to click on were it says photo there and it should bring you to the comment.
