Lucy turned 1 today..but I was mad at her for mouthing me

Today is Lucy's first birthday. So I had planned to do something special for her, but she started back with this "play biting" crap that she KNOWS I hate. She puts her mouth down on your hand and pretends to bite. It drives me NUTS. I think her previous owner let her do it, but it makes me nervous. How can I get her to stop.

awe lucy i almost missed your birthday...sweetie..are you being

now behave a bit it's your birthday and if you bite mums hand she won't be able to hand you all those good stuffs...I hope mums not too mad at you...you may be one, but in bullie years your still just a babe...smile and hope your day was a delight!birthday belly rubs..ce and mojo

re: play biting

my greyhound does this to us. I hold his muzzle, and say "no bite" in a low, growly, I'm really serious, voice. Then ignore him and don't play with him as long as he's "misbehaving". I know they don't mean it and only mean to play, but you don't want them getting in the habit of doing that, especially when you have company over or around kids.

Play Biting

Sheldon is 16 months and still play bites, despite my repeated corrections. All of the sudden he turns into a crazy man and makes a funny growling noise (in an effort to egg me on) and tries to bite my hands. I just tell him "No Biting" in a firm voice and then ignore him. He usually calms down pretty quickly.

Re: Birthday Biter

Thank you for the encouragement and tips. I'll try not to be too mad at her! We'll have a little party.

Birthday Biter

The key is that every single time she play bites or even looks like she is going to do that, you say NO! and hold her mouth closed for a couple of seconds. She will get the idea over time.

I hope Lucy has a very happy birthday ,despite being naughty. Don't give up the birthday plans. (She's just a baby, after all.)

If you get an answer to that question, PLEASE let me know...hee hee. Rosie is very big into play biting. I also assume that her previous owner let her do this because she does it all the time. She has learned the "no biting" command very well and generally responds to that pretty fast but it is still her instinct to bite when playing. Drives me nuts, too!!!
