A little advice??

I've posted a few times but am a regular reader for the past 2 years since I purchased my first bulldog. His name is Nigel and he is loved dearly. I am embrassed to say that I did buy him from a pet store and have learned my lesson. I just wish I would have found this board before buying him so please go easy on me.
I have had quite a few problems with Nigel. He has had mange twice, allergies to no end and limping in his back right leg. We have a great vet who takes care of him. However, my question is: I have the breeder's name and names of sire and dam...is there anyway I can find out any information about them? I'm curious to know if either of Nigel's parents have had any of these problems or if any of his litter mates possibly?
If anyone should know how to proceed with this, please let me know. Thanks

That would be nice

Just send me an e-mail before you come in town.

Florida

Joanna-I just returned from Ft. Lauderdale on Sunday, my family lives there, I'm stuck in NJ. I'll be back there for 3 weeks in December (hopefully). Maybe we can meet then.

I just emailed you! Thanks n/m

Yeah!

I grew up in Clearwater. I'd be interested to know where you got Nigel from and who his breeder is. E-mail me the info, if you don't mind.

We are somewhat neighbors..

I live in sarasota - the other coast right?
Not alot of us on here from Florida. Nice to meet someone else. I just posted a picture of Nigel at about 12 weeks, I'll post more recent pictures if it works. Gotta go pick up my son from school now..
Have a great evening all..

Where in FLORIDA?

We live in Ft. Lauderdale.

If you haven't already...

do a search on every dog listed in the pedigree. I think "google" is the best. You might get lucky and find one of those breeders. If there are any Champions in his line you might have more luck.
That's how I did it. I found a breeders website that happened to have the pedigree listed for one of thier studs and his sire was on my dog's pedigree. I e-mailed that breeder who happened to own, at one point, some of the dogs in Sheldon's line. She then gave the information for the breeder who she sold to...who happened to own Sheldon's sire before he was bred. So...ta dah, I was able to get the info regarding Sheldon's sire (including pictures) from someone other than his breeder. I have had no luck regarding Sheldon's mother's side. I can try and help you if you want to e-mail me the names.

Yes I do....

I am at work right now but have that information stored safely at home. That would be great if you could help. What do I need to do. Thanks Joanna

Funny you should say that...

Your quite correct, the only time I have posted a picture of my Nigel was to show his belly when he was having a really bad time with the allergies. We have since found out that he is allergic to the grass. Just what we needed as we live in Florida with grass year around. Anyway, I did have quite a time figuring out how to post a picture of Nig but I will give it a go right now. This time I will post a picture of him not his belly and try to remember to put (pic) in my title.
Here I go...

Do you Nigels pedigree?

Let me know, I might be able to help you.

I have the breeders name...

and a rr box address but no phone numbers. I have done a search every way I know how but nothing comes up. I'm afraid that maybe she isn't really a "breeder" at all and maybe this is her first litter or whatever the case may be, she definitely isn't a "known" breeder.
I haven't actually called 411 to get her numbers either. Guess I'm a little scared to! It's been two years now and I don't want to make a big deal or anything but maybe would like to see pictures of his parents and know their histories!
Sorry to know others are going through the same experience.
Also on a personal note..just wanted to say to ce...I didn't realize they still made people with such a heart as yours. Like I said, I don't post often but read everyday (addict I know) and I don't believe I have ever meet a person as kind as you. How lucky your family must be to have you in their lives.
Anyway, thanks to all that have posted. I will let you know how the search goes.
Thanks again
Heather & Nigel

Woops, I meant to say "Nigel" not Henry...

sorry - but you get my point

As far as I can tell the only thing you should apologize for is

not posting any pics of Henry! Show us the goods!

I personally would not...

judge you for not knowing any better than to buy at a pet store. I didnt know until I found this board, though I didnt get HEnry form a store. I got him form a BYB. It was this board that educated me too, and a lot of others here as well.

As far as finding out about his "relatives", I think you can, but Im not sure how. Good luck to you and your sweet baby!

oops sorry just read your note again

you have names so I would just call them? the worst that could happen is they wont give you any info. He is lucky to have such a wonderful home!

Add me to the list of trying to find out info!

Can you call the breeder? look up his name on your paperwork if you have it should be name and address. unfortunatly mine is in another language!!

You have NO reason to be embarassed!

I have read many a sagas of people who have purchased thier bullies through "reputable" breeders and have similar problems. Have you tried to do an internet search on your breeder? If you know what city the breeder lives in you can try calling 411 for that city. You can also try doing a search by breeder and dog on the BCA site, but you'll only get info if the dogs are Champions. My experience, however, has been that breeders who sell to pet stores, brokers, what ever, do not want to have anything to do with you. I got my bully from what has been described to me as a "broker." I too have the breeders name. I've e-mailed her several times, but she doesn't respond (I'm too chicken to call her). I was fortunate, however, to find the former owner of my bully's sire, grand sire, etc. on the internet by doing a search by the sire's registered name. That person was very helpful. Good Luck.

I can not help you with your questions about his

folks...and I wish you luck on your search..but as for the handsome Nigel being a pet store pupster....there are many of us here who have gotten our bullies from less then desirable condtions...and I certainly wold be the last to toss negative words at you about it...or adore Nigel any less...it's his spirit and heartbeat that counts..and I hope his medical health improves..and find you both basking in health and love...ce
