What kind of rabbit do you have? I think you should post a picture or pictures of him/her!!

I am thinking about a Flemish Giant Rabbit for in the future! I think they are very cool looking! Although I have lots of research to do yet! Is your rabbit litter box trained?

Books...

if you can find one specifically for Flemish Giants, great...otherwise use that webiste, or theres a book called the Urban Rabbit or House rabbit...something along that line you can get at any book or petstore. What i do when i let my bunny run around is i put up chicken wire gates blocking stairs, places to get stuck in, etc\. Just buy some chicken wire and bend it! its great! have fun, and email me sometime so we can talk rabbits!

House Rabbit Society-

I spent a lot of time reading the Chicago House Rabbit Society but now I will go through this one as well.

So cute =)

What kind are those?

I am still in the learning process here.

Thanks Lindsay

Yes I do like the Flemish Giant and on several websites-I forget the name of the org but it is the same thing as the BCA but for Flemish Giants it was saying that because of there weight that they needed lots of solid flooring in there cage and a cage at least 36X48. I would most likly keep it in its cage until I was there to play/spend time with it because as you said and the website said they like to eat power cords a lot! I still have a ways to go on research etc.

Do you have some books to recommend?

OMG...they are BIG.... but so cute...

Thanks for the pics.

saspi... long, sorry

Saspi is a holland lop...i've tried to get a pic, but like a bully, she is rather anit-photogenic...she's also very fast... She's not box trained, but she's never gone to the bathroom outside of her cage. she knows how to sit by the door until i let her in and she goes to her cage and goes...pretty nice.

have you gone to http://www.rabbit.org yet?
this is a very good site that i continue to use very often if i have questions about behavior or health. It took me a very long time to convince my parents to let me get another rabbit after mine died after 8 years..but i went on the internet and bought some books and convinced them i was responsible...and i finally got to get one!! she's my baby and i spoil her rotten.
Theres a couple things that im going to point out about Flemish Giants...
1)Because of their size, they are very prone to sore hock, which is when the bottom of their feet are worn down because of resting on a wire cage. My rabbit weighs 3 pounds, and she gets them...but my 2 pound rabbit got them too. I don't think theirs any way to prevent it, but make SURE that the rabbit has a resting place for his feet. (plastic mats what i use) and if they get really bad, take a camomile tea bag and WARM it, then place it on the sore spot for 5 min... that should make it feel better. If you are planning to let the rabbit run free range, (which i wouldn't reccomend because they often get board and eat things they shouldn't) then you don't have anything to worry about.
2)although they are "gentle giants" you still want to watch these around your other pets, as these rabbits weigh about 15 pounds, they can pack quite a punch if intimidated.

I would love to help you if you need anymore guidence. Don't want to brag, but i know my stuff...i've had rabbits since i was 5. They are truly wonderful pets and my rabbit is my best friend. In fact, she is sleeping at my feet right now, like a dog. She also licks me and nuzzles me and grunts and head buts me when she wants attention...spoiled brat... i guess i'll keep her...
Email me! i would love to talk to you!

bunnies? (pics) :-)

OK, I'm not Lindsay, but here are a couple (somewhat blurry) pictures of our rabbits Mario (black) and Maggie (white/grey) with our boxer Ally (obviously when she was still a puppy).
