KRIS...about your run in with the BEAR

Just wondering if your bear is the same one that was featured on Good Morining America this moring. It showed up in a suburban NJ neighboorhood and had a run in with a little boy. Despite the mother's comments that the bear was just being curious and not ggressive towards her 2 year old son, the poor bear was shot and killed.

Here is the newslink

The mother descibed on Good Morning America, that she thought that the bear was not trying to her her child, that it was just being curious, although it left a bump on her child's head. The mother even said she was sad they killed the bear. I couldn't believe Good Morning America showed pictures of the dead bear in the back of a truck. How cruel.

Sounds like the same one...I live in NW Jersey also.
In the local news this am the mother(stupid, stupid) admitted to leaving food out last summer so that the bears would not go in her garbage(this is why my cans are inside the garage).
Thankfully it is now a fine for feeding the bears...if you feed them they associate food with humans...

That stinks they could have sedated and relocated

grrrr I get so mad over stuff like that.

have mercy...when we all learn to share this gift of the earth

and the gifts that each heartbeats contributes....I have always said I hated only cruelty..but fear that often is the foundation of cruel acts..and ignorance self imposed ..both are close in the running...I am saddened for that bears spirit...and for the trigger person will have the circle come back to them in due course of their journey... I am saddened...ce

Oh no!!! ): Why do they DO that!?!?!? nm

Its really sad- and more to come

Yes, I saw it. The really sad part of this whole thing is that this is HORRIBLE timing for the bears. http://www.savenjbears.com/
I really hope that they don't pass this legislation.

Anyone who lives in NJ in the northwest area knows that they ARE there. My friend who grew up in W.Milford had one come up and sniff her while riding her bike. Many people have them rooting through their backyards, campgrounds, etc. Rarely do they attack or even show interest in humans..........this pales in comparison to the many hunting accidents that happen each year. If they pass this proposal, I just wonder what is next.

I don't know why we have this fascination with killing things. One would think that we could find another sport or preoccupation.
