Kane's Rescue Story

I run a mixed breed rescue that rescues mixed breed dogs specifically off First Nation Reserves in Canada, but we do get tons of calls about owner surrenders in the city. Unfortunately we rarely take these dogs because they have other options such as the humane society, etc but for some reason I decided to ask a few more questions, one being what kind of dog they had... bulldog. Well having two already how I could NOT just go and check it out at the very least?!?! No harm in that right?? I showed up at a small townhouse condo and knocked. From inside I heard "COME IN" so I openned the door and peeked in. At the top of the stairs was this darling boy, his butt wiggling as fast as it could and his fat little arm waving at me... it was love at first sight.

I went on to talk to the owner and he explained that they just had a baby and did "have time for him anymore".... I offered to "take him off his hands" I couldn't get my new little boy in the car fast enough. I worried that the guy would change his mind, but he signed him over to me and we were off! His previous owner didn't even care to say good bye!

My intension was to just foster him, but it wasn't long before we decided he could leave. At 5 years old and 3 homes, I wanted to know that he would never be rehomed again and the only way I could ensure that was if I kept him. Kane was healthy and well feed, not major medical issues so he wasn't abused, but just given up like an old couch. He has an amazing personality and gets along well with everyone, dogs, kids, people, etc. He does have an issue with marking in the house and humping peoples legs, but we can handle that! Having 3 is a challenge, but I wouldn't have it any other way! I love this dog!
