The vet said the lump on her breast is most likely a tumor and will have to perform surgery to remove it. Then he will send it to the lab for testing to determine if it's malignant or benign. The lump is hard and the size of a pea. I set up an appointment to have the surgery done this Tuesday...but I'm so scared,
Sweetie is eight years old! She will be put under anaesthesia! What do you all think? Should I do this? What should I do? I'm so concerned and sad.
Again, glad you were so perceptive.
I think you have to get the surgery to find out what it is and get it out of there. Best of luck. We'll keep you in our prayers.
Re: sweetie
She got spayed when she was 5 years old.
sweetie
i would agree to have it removed. have a blood profile done before hand, if you didn't today, to make sure she can handle the anestesia & to check all organ system functions. the biopsy will tell you what it is and if the edges are clean. that would be a must to send out.
is she spayed, or was she spayed later in life? just wondering. i have seen a few dogs get mammary tumors removed and they are doing just fine. you caught it very early, i am sure the dr will get it all, with no problems.
bigs hugs to sweetie, please let us know how she does on tuesday.

Re: Just Got Back From The Vet, Not Good :-(
If she is in good health otherwise, and the vet is good and experienced, I'd say go ahead and have the lump and mammary glands removed.
I'd "remind" the vet to try to keep her as "light" as possible with the anesthesia. Of course, this is saying she has no heart problems. But if she is in good health, I'd go for it. This could give her another 4 years of good living.
