it has very strong side effects. You will be very neausus(sp) for the first 3 weeks or so. You will not want to eat because nothing sounds good. But you will have to make yourself eat something whether it be crackers or toast but this will make you feel better even though at the time you do not think it will. Also the weird thing. It will make some food and drinks taste very bad. You will not be able to drink Coke or Pepsi things. You will end up drinking TONS of water or tea. It makes you a little numb like your lips. But then after a while your back to normal. I drink diet pepsis and coke like there is no tomorrow. You do have to drink water though if you have any tendencies to get kidney stones like i do because for some reason this drug and others like it like Zonegram which I am on now have a tendency to promote the stones if you are prone to them which i am. I have had no problems on Zonegram but had kidney stones a couple times on topamax.

He thinks it should be able to just go down a bit. It's just fluid filled. It's not impairing any other functions, just causing super-headaches. Not worth the surgery.

I'm on Ultram now for the pain, which seems to be working and NOT upsetting my stomach.

The Topomax has caused my entire mouth, lips, and cheeks to be numb. I can't feel carbonation in soda. How weird is that? They say it causes numbness in extremities, but I thought my fingers would be numb... not my LIPS! Ha ha ha.

But I guess it's working because I am feeling better. And not so woozy, nauseous, and foggy. I felt GREAT yesterday, so I (stupidly) didn't take anything. Was ready to DIE last night... learned my lesson to be PRO-active, not REactive...

I have another followup tomorrow afternoon with the neurologist. I'm bringing hubby with me to ask all the questions I don't.

for migraines...i have had one since saturday. can not seem to shake it....feelin' the fog!!! feelin' the fog!

I have an appt this morning with my migraine neurologist and I possibly might start on the Topamax for prevention. Has it been your experience that it helps?

They have already tried Prozac and Pamelor, with one I couldn't sleep, with the other I couldn't stand the side effects.

Any comments on the Topamax?
