its almost 1 am, and here I am, listening to Chinook barking, crying, whining and howling...LOL
I've had him out plenty, and he had lots of exercise..he is sooo tired, but not happy about being in the crate.
Earlier, he went into the crate all on his own and fell asleep, but boy is he mad now...
I'm so tempted to just take him out and keep him sleeping with me, but since I def. want him crate trained I have to be strong...sigh.
I'm going to wait another couple hours and then take him out again, hopefully he will let me sleep some before then...LOL, doesn't sound like it, tho...

I am so glad Chinook is finally home...
But it is almost like bringing any other new baby home. You can hardly wait, and then it is ages until you get a full nights rest. But, it's worth it. Olivia slept through in her crate the second night. After her palate surgery, we brought her into our bed. It's funny. Some nights she wants to sleep with us. Some nights she wants to sleep in the crate. She definitely lets us know which. We, however, make the final call, and she is fine with that.
Happy Homecoming to Chinook. And, just like with two legger babies, sleep when he naps!
I'll bet he's scared
Everything is so new
Our breeder
told us that Boss would need to be as close to us as possilbe for the first few days, so we held him all the time (HE WAS SO SWEET AND CUDDLELY WHO WOULD WANT TO PUT HIM DOWN?) He went to work with me for like 2 months, he slept with us from day one. People told me the same thing that we'd never get him to sleep on his own, what they didn't realize was that I didn't want him to sleep by himself, that's so cruel I think, especially especially if he's our only baby. The only time we'd wake up is if he fell off the bed, WHICH WAS OFTEN, and he was too small to get back up by himself or if we got up to take him to pee. So I agree, pick him up and put him in the bed with you, he's a baby.
Congratulations on Chinook
Love the name! Oh how I remember those sleepless nights, we broke down and brought her into our bed and see has been there since. Funny thing is I too am a very light sleeper, and now I find I can't sleep without the sound of her snoring!!!
what a beautiful baby Lu!! I love his name..
and I love that you quote Thich Nnat Hanh at the end of each post!! Big, big, fan here!!!
Nice to meet you and congrats on your new baby!
Chinook
is actually so calm and relaxed in the new house, even at the airport, its downright strange, acts like he's been here all the time.

He will go into the crate and lay down...he just doesn't like me telling him "when" (nighttime...hehe) and to stay in it.
I don't think it will be long till he is used to the new schedule.

thing is...
I wouldn't sleep then either, I'm a light sleeper and a dog crawling around in bed with me would keep us both up...lol

hehe...
this spoiled brat actually has a "snuggle puppy" with heartbeat in it...

Hey, I got 3 hours of sleep, he went inside his crate, but also went peepee outside, so all is good...
Now, in a little bit the second concert shall begin...

Old tricks
This is a very, very, very old trick. Take a wind up alarm clock that TICKS and put it by his crate, The tick-ticking can calm your puppy. Also, make sure that your Chinook is warm enough. Good luck.
Yikes!....
It's amazing your little guy never got hurt falling off the bed! We let Chubbs sleep with our son Micah once she showed herself okay in the potty department. We got a couple of those toddler rails to put on the sides of the bed so she couldn't fall off.
One of the people who bought a nice show puppy from me a few years ago, had him fall off the bed and injure his foot so it ruined him for showing - always walked with a limp
You are SMART to let him know right off the bat that YOU...
are TOP DOG
Pick him up
put him on your bed & lets all get some sleep!!!!!
That's what we did for the first few weeks, friends all said "Oh,you won't be able to get him to sleep anywhere else from now on" ..well Berkeley sleeps in his perla in another room ALL night.....go on, he's only a baby!!!!LOL
Good Luck, & ENJOY HIM!!!!!! Cheers & G'Night!!

Have you tried....
Putting the crate in the bedroom with you? Sometimes that calms them. But maybe that's where your crate is already? It is the first night in a new house. New smells, new people, new everything... So NOTHING may calm him until he's just so exhausted he falls asleep. Hope you get some rest soon!
Bella slept with me the first couple nights
until she got use to being in her new home, then she was crate trainined and now is back on my bed.
It gets better. im glad he is home!
Post pix soon.
