I noticed in a catalog a Jolly Ball with out a handle. Does anyone have one and do they puncture like the handled ones?
I'm still trying to find a ball Boris can't destroy. We have teaser balls but the hard plastic shavings get stuck in the carpet and it's driving me crazy picking them out.
Thanks
Boris
hemp tugs??
never heard of that before. what are they like?
maybe will not use the red kong ball anymore here.
most of the other balls that I use are large..and no way they can be swallowed..
thanks again for the heads up on the kong ball..can see it being soo slippery when slobbered..they could get swallowed..
That should read "kong"
And it was just the solid round rubber one.

I use the kong treat balls (kinda shaped like an octogan with slits) as well as the beehive shape and the one that looks like a big rubber jack. They just have to be big and completely incapable of getting stuck. I do use balls with straps on them for retrieve, but I find that hemp tugs are safer for her (and my nerves!).

wow..thanks for that info..
scary stuff
thanks for the heads up
Be very careful
If you try one of the king balls, make sure it's BIG. Kano was retrieving one, clamped down on it (it was slippery with her drool) and it shot into the back of her throat and occluded her airway. I was doing the heimlich on my 95 lb dog in the middle of the road. Almost lost her.

there is a new ball out called a giggler ball as well....
it is really really hard..
Bella and Gus both love it
it giggles when you shake it or bounce it
not sure of the company that makes it..
but that is the name..GIGGLER Ball..
larger then a tennis ball and tough tough..
what about a kong hard ball...
KONG has balls that are indestructible..
[/IMG]
they are red and hard plastic
for power chewers..
they are small though.. a bit larger then a tennis ball..but the dogs love it here
as far as the jolly ball goes..
I have quite a few of them here now
the ones with the handles are not my problem..they chew them in the center and do not even use the handle.
the teaser ball held up much better but they splinter and need to be replaced here and there..
I have a jolly ball with a rope instead of a handle..and they have not marked that one at all..and all the dog use it. it is a bit tougher then a regular jolly ball and again for power chewers..
here is a pic of the one with the rope..

We use them a lot
In training with the dogs that do bitework. The bite sleeves (and suits) have a hemp covering.

The tugs are about 9 inches long and hold up pretty well to hard bites. I used them with Kano for retrieve and to train her to go over jumps (not around! lol). I also liked to use them to train for a bite with commitment. I was able to lift her and swing her around when she was biting the tug. I still have the ones I purchased 8 years ago.
Of course, they're are an interactive fun training aid - not a chew toy (no matter how much she would like them to be...).
I've trained some bitework with Q, too. Mostly to train the release or "out" on command. He loves it!

We bought Dozer the jolly ball with no handle..
It was the one with the rope thru it, it lasted all of 2 days. He figured out how to chew right into the ball itself and he simply ate around it like an apple,lol.. The teaser ball and black kong are the only toys he hasnt destroyed.

yea...I think soo..
Bella does not use the handle..
she chews the ball only
and yes she is getting big bite marks in them
so likely they would just grab them and chew them
I would say yes for sure..
the one though that I posted with just the rope
they are not chewing on that ball at all..
I am not sure why
but it of a much tougher construction then the regular jolly ball..
my teaser balls lasted much longer then the jolly ball will for sure.
the one that Bella got for Christmas has big chew marks on it..although she has not punctured it as of yet.
We have the Kong octogon ball with slits and Boris LOVES it
He gets his dinner in it and treats of course.
