I'm feeling exceptionally guilty lately. I don't know HOW this ever got by me, but somehow no one ever told me nor did I ever read in ALL my reading to switch Grover from puppy food to adult around 6 months of age.
(Please don't hate me!) But we kept him on puppy food (stupidly!) all the way to one year!!!! He's not at ALL heavy. He's just under 60 lbs at two years old. We never experienced any growing pains and he never grew too fast or too slow. He has NO hip, knee, or joint problems, either.
But now you all have me concerned that SOMEday he might run into joint problems... have we done him a disservice? Should I be giving him glucosamine/chondroiton tabs in addition to the PetTabs and Lipiderm he gets?
Ai-yi-yi... this has really been bugging me lately. My main question is: Is it REALLY absolutely necessary to switch so early?
Ahhhhhhhh... I feel better now.

Re: You're so right, Em. Thanks!!!! =) Anyone else wanna chime i
Don't puppy food have more fat in it then adult food?
if so I would think about that
p.S
I have no clue!
You're so right, Em. Thanks!!!! =) Anyone else wanna chime in?
I'm not going to worry about it. What's done is done.
But I'm truly curious to know if switching to adult food at 6 months is AS important as sometimes I feel like it SEEMS. Does that make sense?

I love to help and answer questions here - to give advice about things I consider myself "educated"... but I'd never feel right recommending to someone to switch their 6 month old to adult food when I didn't... you know?
Just babbling to myself I guess.

i don't think you should worry about it too much
Some people don't even feed dog food, some people give a raw diet. Some people use a food that is for all life stages, etc. If Grover is happy and healthy...well then he's happy and healthy!
