My fiancee has a family event out of town this weekend, and we have noone willing to watch Lucy.
I worry about boarding her because she is very anxious around other dogs, it's so bad...she won't even pee/poop if she hears a dog barking.
At the boarding kennel, I know dogs will be barking 24-7 and I'm afraid it will traumatize her. Should I risk offending my fiancee and stay back to watch Lucy. Or do you guys think she'll be OK and I am overreacting.
I agree with taking Lucy with you....not worth anxiety on everyo

Big dilema but I would stick with Lucy...ha ha
Sorry hands down I so crazy about my dolly girl I would have a real hard time boarding her. If I had to choose between in-laws and my fatso...oh well the fatso wins....
We take Maggie with us...
...and have a portable crate that comes along. She has her "blankie" that goes on the foot of the king-sized bed.. (..make sure and get the king-size bed in the hotel..) and there's always a potty-spot outside and near the dog-friendly hotels..
If we have to fly somewhere we have a house-sitter who comes and stays in the home.
hi Kandace...hon, I think you answerd your own question...
you are crying because you don't feel comfortable leaving Lucy in a boarding situation.
she has trouble surrounded by other dogs and is anxiuos..
you are afraid it will tramatize her...
I think no one knows Lucy more then you ..and if you have these concerns for her well being and already know how she will react and handle boarding...
Then in my opinion, I think it is time that your hubbie to be ,gets used to life with a bullie and
how to include her as much as possible and how to travel with her ...smile
barring that maybe a pupster sitter..but think she'll be happiest with her mums...ce
Go for it!
You've got to stay somewhere anyway.
She can stay with us, but I found another boarder I may like mor
I found out the red Roof Inn does allow dogs to stay if caged. So worse come to worse, she can come with! That would make me happy! I'll see if I can talk Chris into it.
A couple of ideas
How about a friend? Could they come over and let her out a few times a day? Or house sit? Call your vet and ask about one of the techs or secretaries. They might be available to housesit or let her out. Or ask if they know of a pet sitting service. If they normally let them out twice a day, pay double for 4 times a day if you are worried about her. Consider taking her with you. If you are staying in a hotel, some will take pets. (They really are small dogs and everyone will believe they weigh under 20lbs.) We stayed at an Amerisuites and they allowed dogs no problem.
Gook luck! It is hard. I board Flora at the vet usually, but she doesn't eat a lot and loves to come home.
boarding
Do you have a friend, relative, anyone that will stay with Lucy while you are gone? I don't blame you about boarding. I will not leave Jez anywhere where she doesn't have 24/7 care. Can you take her with you? There are plenty of motels that are pet friendly. Don't feel bad. My mom will not let Jez in her house when I come to visit. Guess what? Haven't visited mom for more than a couple of hours since I got Jez.
Kandace.... Where do you live?
I am sure if you close to one of us, we would be willing to watch her... Where are you? I am in California, if you are near me I would be more than happy to.
