Is it ok to give them greenies everyday?

It's the only thing that makes Milo happy, he's obsessed with them - is it healthy to give him one a day? Hopefully is poop don't turn green lol!

I don't know about that

if they're fattening or not. What I started giving instead was a nice, raw, juicy marrow bone from the butcher. the dogs love it and it's great for their teeth. Get a big enough one that the dog won't be able to choke on and give it outside!

We quit giving them as well...

..as I found after they get wet and then start to dry they get very sticky.. I was afraid that Maggie would choke or that a piece of it may stick to the inside of her throat or esophagus.

We quit...

Greenies. Sheldon used to get greenies until he swollowed a big chunk and almost choked on it. I don't think bulldogs are very good chewers, at least Sheldon isn't. When I give him hard treats, I always tell him "chew it good, Sheldon"...it seems like he knows what I'm talking about . Our vet also told us that a lot of dogs get sick from greenies.

Re: Food for Thought.....

I have heard the same thing and would stay away from them!!!!!!!!!!

WOW

Ok No more Greenies for Milo!
Yikes that's scary!

Food for Thought.....

Several warnings have been made recently about items that appear harmless for your dogs, but can actually be quite dangerous. A popular new dog chewie is called a "greenie"; it has a bone-hard texture that inhibits plaque and tartar, is grass green, and is formed to look like a toothbrush. It is supposed to help dogs keep their teeth clean, but several people have reported that their dogs have broken off chunks of the "greenies" and swallowed them, and the dogs later experienced great distress because the chunks lodged in their throats. A person recently posted a message on the Internet that her dog died after swallowing a chunk, because it adhered to the esophageal walls of the dog’s throat, and the vets were unable to remove it. Similar dangers have been reported about other similar types of chewies, with dogs having problems by swallowing chunks that adhered to or became lodged in their internal organs. And this can happen even if the dog is being supervised at the time. Please be careful if you give your dog ANY type of chewie! Be sure that it is too large for it to be swallowed, and that smaller pieces cannot be broken off and swallowed.

Remember to supervise your dog when give a "greenie".

Tee hee hee - Are they fattening?

I thought they were all natural!
I know they are expensive little things hey!
I bought a jumbo pack for Milo and he LOVES them. He eats gerties when she isn't looking lol!

Uh oh

Ok Thanks for the heads up - thank god Gertie doesnt eat them, she chews on them for about 5 minutes and barely makes a tooth mark, no more for her now until she gets older!

Thank you!

Im on messenger

it shows you as away.

greenies

I don't because Spike is watching his figure, LOL

He gets one about once a week, truthfully, I can't afford one a day for two dogs!

Important info on Greenies

My Cletus loves them too. BUT he can't have them for a while now. Someone told me not to give them to dogs under 6 months of age though. I asked my vet and he said it was fine, I even read the info on the package and they said 6 months or over 12 lbs. I called the 1-800 # on the Greenies package and they said NOT to give Greenies to dogs under 6 months of age. Said it messes with the digestive system.

Lisa,

Where are you? You are not on messenger and I keep missing you when you are! lol
