My name is Christine, 33yrs old, grew up in the bay area, in CA. I am a realtor/owner of a real estate company in San Leandro. My fiance is an appraiser. We have been dating for over 13 years and we are no rush to get married either. Its just too much planning and $$ for one party!!! We do not have any children and I really don't plan on having any either. We love animals, especially senior dogs.
We had our beloved german sheperd momo for 15 years, until he got bloat in Jan 09 and died. That was the saddest day of our lives... I thought I wouldn't ever be happy again... until one day my almost-husband said "lets go to the spca and play with some animals." A volunteer there suggested that we take a look at her 2 foster dogs. She said that their mommy just passed away and that everyone wanted to adopt the young one and no one wanted to adopt the senior with her. She said they would have to go together because they would be too sad if seperated. She said they got depressed when their 3rd sister was adopted seperately:(
Without knowing what kind of dogs they were, we went to the foster moms home and saw the cutest things in the world... a fat, overweight bully, and a white-faced senior kelpie mix! We fell in love instantly and have been obsessed ever since! Kibby and Gabby are the most loving dogs I have ever met... I swear momo sent me 2 angels from heaven because he knew i was so sad! I even located their 3rd sister, a basset hound (named angel!), and tried to reunite the family, but her foster mom wouldn't give her up!!
I have been on BDW ever since, for about a year now, learning as much as I can about this very smooshy, cute but ugly, hella meaty, white-pig of a dog !!! Bullys are truly unique and I can now see why people are addicted to them!!
I want to keep getting rescues... we are currently debating on when to introduce another dog in the mix because our senior kelpie Gabby is getting old, and we don't want Kibby to be lonely if something should happen... maybe in another year?
Super long term goal is to win the lottery, and to have kind of a senior citizen home for dogs (in our own home, of course!) and to give them the best last years of their lives, as if they were on permenant vacation!!!
Hi Christine, from another Christine!!
I love your ideas of a place for senior bullies! I grew up in the bay area too, along with my husband..but I'm 38 now....
as I tell my friends "dogs not kids"lol
even tho I have 2 of them!
nice to meet ya!
much bully love~Christine, Dupree, Marley and Savannah
Hiya Christine:)
Thanks for sharing - love the long term goal! (we share the winning the lottery part:) - but in seriousness, I think that is a very noble to do if you were to win the lottery, very genuine!
Wow, I have that same dream
I would so love to have a home for senior citizen dogs, especially those orphaned because their owner crossed over. Thank you sooooo much for adopting your two dogs. The pic of them together is incredibly sweet. I wish that other person would give you their sister.
