This is how I feel
Okay, I posted about Guinness's diarrhea on the medical forum and Liz told me to hold back food for 24 hours and then feed her chicken and rice. She had no food yesterday and we are going to give her the chicken and rice today. I scrubbed all my carpets on my hands and knees yesterday because I didn't think the Hoover would do the job, but when I woke up this morning, ALAS there is diarrhea all over my house again! She has it really bad--I am going to call the vet tomorrow, but does anybody know what could be wrong with her? She is very listless, sleeps all day unless she's pooping. She did get spayed on Tuesday which I am attributing to the cause of her very upset tummy. I feel so bad for her--her poor little bottom must just be raw because I have to wipe it incessantly, and I can't give her a bath for at least another week! What can I do to help my little miss muffin?
Another note--we did switch their food completely over about 2 weeks ago. Murphy handled it just fine. I switched to Lamb and Rice--do you think she may have an allergy to the lamb or something? The diarrhea just started 2 days ago though, and they have been totally switched over for 2 weeks.
Love them Bullies!

Re: I need more advice on DIARRHEA MANIA!!! (Long and Pic)
I agree with the answers below about pedialyte, kaopectic or pepto bismo, and Helen's answer. This is something that should not be normal with having her spayed. She had to have picked something up. Flagyl would be what she needs to be on, too. Is she running a temperature at all?
It could even be that she had a little giardia or something and the stress of the surgery allowed it to flair up. But you need to try the above suggestions, and get her to the vet first thing in the morning. Get a sample of her stool to take in too, just to be safe.
Pedialyte
I give mine pedialye instead of water or mixed with water to help with the dehydration.
Diarhea
Whatever happened to just boiled beef and rice??? That is what my vet told me to use years ago and I still use it. Also get live culture acidopholus at a health food store(used to make yogurt) and give her one capsule or tablet 2 times a day. If the vet gave her antibiotics then she can have the diarhea from a lack of bacteria in the digestive tract, the acidopholus will put this back.
poop
is there anything she could have gotten into? did you give her any special treats for being a good girl after surgery that might be disagreeing with her?
i doubt its the new food, since she just had surgery, but keep her on the rice and chicken for a few days after the diahrrea is under control, and gradually change back to the food you are feeding.

if she still has diahrrea keep the food away. offer her liquids to keep her hydrated, but that belly has to calm down. feed her only after she goes 12 hours without diahrrea. small amounts of rice and boiled chicken. you can use some immodium or something similar while she is being fasted.
a tablespoon of pumpkin mixed in with the rice should help too.
poor little girl. put some aloe or diaper cream on her bum to make her feel better. hugs to the poopie machine

Some ideas
I would switch over to the chicken and rice, too. I would put her in a crate or room with a tiled floor when unsupervised because she isn't able to control it. In the morning, get some diarrhea in an old, clean plastic container and take it in for the vet to examine with you and her. Flora had gotten a bacteria from outside last year that was hard to eradicate. Took 3 weeks of Flagyl. She started again recently and I took her in and got some Flagyl although they didn't see anything. I just didn't want it to get started again. Feed her the chicken and rice 3-4 times a day as it doesn't seem to last long on the stomach.
Guiness
To get her to drink, freeze chicken broth. And to help with the diarrhea, give her some Kaopectate.
Be careful about dehydration
If your vet is open today, I'd call him or her right away. If not open, is there a weekend/evening/holiday veterinary ER clinic near where you live?? Dehydration, which oftens accompanies diarrhea, can be very very dangerous to a dog.
You tell 'em, Helen...I agree completely..n/m
Good luck!
Poor Baby
I am so sorry that your precious baby has diarrhea so badly! You have received some excellent advice. The only thing I would add is that unseasoned pumpkin (not the pie mix pumpkin) will help to stop it, and that way you are not giving her any "drugs".
Let us know how things go with the vet!
