Ok so I tried to get a rescue but all the rescue people I talked to said they did not cover my area (Erie, PA). I got over it and just found an older dog that no one wanted and got him and fixed him up myself (Buster). It took a while for one to come along but he is my sweet loving boy and would not give him up for the world. So I go on to craigslist.com about a week ago and a guy is looking for an english bulldog for a pet and didn't care about minor health problems. I told him to look into the rescue program and he got the same thing as I did. Not covering our area. If I had the money to start my own rescue I would. It is kind of frustrating to know there are good homes this way but no one wants to try to give us a chance. I feel bad for this guy because I know how he feels. So here is my question. Why does the BCA not make sure there is a rescue in all areas. I am willing to do this guys home visit. I have helped drive a dog across the US. The rescue and BCA have me on file to help. I guess I am just starting to remember how much I wanted a baby and all the pain I felt when I was told they could not help me. So please help me understand why things are the way they are. PS i am not telling who the rescues were so don't ask. Just know that all that were listed for being in this area were called.

I have the same issue here
The closest rescue is in Washington or in Canada in Ontario.

I am in Alberta!
I want nothing more than to start a rescue here, but the only way I could do it is to drive bullys up here from the US and find them homes here because there just aren't any rescues here except for a few owner surrenders once in a while and they all want thousands of dollars.
I myself am looking for a Bully boy to rescue, and I have applied with BCARN, Cascade, Bulldog haven, and no one seems to have a baby for me.
Its very frustrating.
Any advice?

That's the same way I got Darlin-Retired Champion
from a local breeder who wanted her to remain a family pet. Darlin did not get along with the new breeding bitch, and therefore would have to be kept separate from her and the family. She truly loved Darlin and found me through our bulldog club. We visit on occassion and I email pics to her.

Re: Cleveland BC
As far as I know there isn't a Rescue person in the Cleveland area, probably the closest would be Heather Stinson in Michigan.
A Bulldog friend from around Columbus, OH sent me contact info on a guy in Col. that does Mastiff Rescue and will work with Bulldogs too. I think I still have his contact info, if they are interested.
My rescue came.........
from a kennel in Buffalo. She is a retired breeder so you may want to look into breeders in the Ohio, Upstate NY area.
Has anyone contacted the Cleveland bulldog club
to see if they have any rescue program within that organization? Maybe its not a major part of their program but they do have something set up, or have a local member who does this informally???
no, there isn't
I have had people ask me and have wanted to volunteer in that area and the surrounding rescues did not respond

Amanda...
click on Rae's name where it is underlined! That will automatically set you up to email her.
Is there a group in the Cleveland area?
You are within 100 miles of Cleveland and that should qualify as "local"...or at least it would here in California! I understand the frustrations. One more place to check is PetFinder.com and there are often bulldogs listed with different groups not always bulldog.
i sent him here
i will see if he likes any and we will get back to you
Amanda_n_Buster
it is not giving me your email
Amanda_n_Buster
BCA does not include ALL rescue groups
We are not a BCA rescue group. Have you contacted us? We would love to have anyone join our circle of rescuers, we even have a volunteer down in LA and we have dogs brought up to us!! email me....

Amanda-We would be glad to send our rescues up your way.

Smoky Mountains Bulldog Club
We have several on our website. Please call the number listed, and offer your help for a home visit to Mari-our rescue chairperson. We like to have someone near enough to step in quickly if something happens, so we would continue to need help making sure the baby was well cared for.
We send rescues as far as Memphis, which is over 9 hours away.
Titan and one-eyed Gus have been in rescue a long time-please take a look at them and pass this info onto everyone you know who might make a good bully home.
Thanks!
