and I don't know how I will ever be able to go back to a full time job. I worked out of my house for six hours today (although there was also driving involved) and all I did was worry about my dogs. I took Faye and Pepper to a friend's house, so they weren't alone. Spanky only needs to walk twice a day, so he was fine, but I missed them so much! How could I ever be away from them for eight hours a day, plus driving in L.A. traffic, everyday?

I work from home too.....for about 4 years....
and I love being around the dogs but I miss people

I am doing it now... had been home for the last 3 years too...
I just took a new full time position as well. Sanford is home but has a dog walker at lunch time for 30-45 minutes. He's actually adjusting really well, I think it's harder for me than it is for him to tell you the truth.
The winter is really the hard time because you can't really go out with them after work so I'm really looking forward to spring/summer so we can walk/play outside at night when I get home.
Fortunately my commute isn't too bad, I leave the house by 7:30 or 7:45 and I'm typically home by 6:15 or 6:30 at night so he's really only left alone for about 5 hours at a time.
I know that Spanky sleeps all day...
I just worry about the puppy and the Pug, since they have smaller bladders.

it is difficult at first.. with a related storey.
I remember when they asked me to stop bringing my dogs to work.. three weeks later i had a new job (though i did not leave me job because of the dog thing... but it helped). The dogs had to stay home for the first time in their lives.. and it was killing me.. 4 months later the Mrs. got to take a year off for matternanty (sp?) leave, all is good (for the dogs). after mat. leave, Joy only worked part time and one of us was home with the baby and dogs for another year and a half.. Joy has been working full time again for about 4 months now..
so really, aside from the 4 months before the baby was born, my dogs are home alone all day alone for the first time... I go home for lunch everyday to let them out to pee.. 1/2 hour of driving per hour lunch.. they are asleep when i get home at lunch.
when they came to work with me, they slept all day.
when joy was home with them, they slept all day.
they are home alone now.. and i am pretty sure that they sleep all day.
I think it is much more of an adjustment for us.. they will just sleep it off.
bulldogs ehh!
I understand what you are saying...
Similar situation for my daughter who for 10 yrs has been telecommuting 4 days a week from home, one day having to drive in to the city. Just this month & for who knows how long she's having to drive in everyday. Lots of adjusting for her & her family. But ya gotta do what ya gotta do to keep the job. Good Luck with your situation.

I really want the security of a full time job...
so if I can find one, I'll have to take it. It will just be a bit of an adjustment. I am so used to getting up and answering emails in my jammies, it will be hard to get up and put on makeup everyday.

You make do. It all works out. I had to do it. :)
After 5 years of telecommuting, I had to go back to an office. It was hard, but if you have to do it, you do it and you survive.
