He has always avoided going UP stairs since we adopted him...but I really chalked it up to being left outside all the time and not having experience with them. Now I know that is a big red flag for hip dysplasia. He has never enjoyed walks...again, chalked it up to bully laziness and whatever he went through in the past. Of course, knowing he would have to be sedated for xrays would have made me wary too...with bullies you always have to be weighing those sedation risks. UGH. He really only limped that first summer we had him when was on the raw diet...raw really did not agree with him. He was like a dog in a coma on it. Once we switched his diet he improved dramatically...just started limping bad recently.
Michele, you are such a GREAT momma! Don't feel guilty.
You love Hooch so much and it shows!

My handsome Malcolm, gone but not forgotten!
oh no!!!
don't feel guilty Michele!!! Your one of the best mom's I know of. You go to great lengths to help Hooch no matter what it is. now that you know what it is you can help him deal with it. I bet you've been doing research for hours to figure out the best and safest method to make Hooch comfortable. Give the big guy a hug from us, please.

Don't feel guilty...i did with Gus here too and do not need too
I felt really guilty that I did not catch Gus being deaf until he was almost 2. things made sense no real reason to not think he could hear. made more sense he was just stubborn. but now that I knnow I can deal with it better
the same with HOOCH.
no sense in feeling guilty...can not change the past
but you can change his future to make it better...the same with me and Gus.
I can tell you love HOOCH by your posts..
Thank you my dear friend! How are you all doing?
