when I do not hear a thing and the some of the holes are still letting in some water..although they made a make shift tank..to catch the water..still worries me..
oh well maybe will hear later today. the company is back in the office from the weekend, maybe they got some kind of idea who is going out to get them...in the end..there is always the coast guard..but for now they are going nowhere at all. he said the ice is about 3 feet thick around the tug.
really wish they had not let the season go soo long this year..but they had a late start with the economy and the auto market..

when she first came home

was not sure if anyone is following this thread
but no updates
so wait until morning and I will try to call him again
or wait for him to call me instead

should have a better idea after 6pm tonight..
what is happening out there
stressful day to say the least..

it sucks big time..
he said they have all had enough..
well the company is closed today and nobody in the office..
so they have to wait until tomorrow first thing
he is calling back at 6pm tonight so I he will stay in contact..at least

there is nobody that wants to get stuck themselves..
they really like my son said, did not end the season for the tug company soon enough.
this is way late for them.
they normally stop running by mid dec.

so will see what happens here..in the next few hours..
the biggest thing is making contact with someone that can get them out of THERE.
hopefully the companies out tug is on the way from Detroit back...so they can stop and help them out..but the company does not want that to result in 2 trapped tugs..
so not sure what they will do
in the end.I say call the coast guard and be done with it..

when she first came home

first of all this morning...I went to bed at 7pm last night in error and got up at 3am. so day has been really mixed up. could not go back to sleep..
then my pugs decided that the floor was better then the outside in the rain. odd temps here and it raining out.should be snowing.lol

My son just called again. this time he is stuck in the middle of Lake Eerie. they backed up the tug and tried to get out of the ice that way..usually works but guess the equipment was not working up to the snuff and they lost the steering completely
now they are stuck..nobody to get them out today for sure..and maybe not even tomorrow. another tug might get around to helping them get out..but good chance they will get stuck too. the coast guard is not going out sometimes now too..the ice is way to thick.
apparently they were surprised at how much ice is built up soo soon. read the boat nerd site this morning..and wow lots of them are major stuck.
so we wait and wait.
they have food and water. are 10 miles to shore but 30 miles to where they can dock. so they need someone to tow them I guess. who do they get to go out there to get them..that is the question..
the ice put 4 huge holes in the tug and they were able to patch them or they would sink..
I am beginning to not this field of work..marine engineering.
I do not like water at the best of times...lol. do not swim either..

they will get in a bit later..then they have to repair it and fill out all kinds of reports...to the Government..about the iccident. so could be a bit before he is off. darn it..so darn close. he should have been off there before in a couple of days..well now who knows.
