How to Ease Ear Infection Pain/Discomfort (cross-post)

Hi All,

Our guy was diagnosed with an ear infection today. The vet did an ear wash and Mometamax and he got his first antibiotic with dinner tonight.

The poor guy was able to rest all afternoon, but now his ear is CLEARLY bothering him. I feel so bad because I hate to see him in pain/discomfort.

Any advice on how we can ease the discomfort for him tonight so he (and we) can sleep??? I didn't think to ask the vet this question and now, of course, they are closed.

Thanks! We always appreciate and value all advice and suggestions from the kind, helpful people on the BulldogsWorld message boards.

I Think I'll Start Temaril Tonight

I read more about this and one of its jobs is to reduce inflammation caused by bacterial infections. I think I'll give him his first dose tonight and hopefully it will help him feel more comfortable.

One question about this

We are to start him on Temaril-P tomorrow morning which I was told has a Steroid in it. I thought about giving him Benadryl tonight to ease the discomfort, but will that interfere with the Temaril which he will get with breakfast tomorrow?

you can get some ear drops from the local store

for ear pain, otic calm,or a drop of clove oil in the ear will help.

You can give him some benadryl, 25mg for 25lbs, so if he is 50lbs give him 2
