Home from the vets...Marley Update
Submitted by Anonymous on April 21, 2010 - 12:34amVet thinks it was an insect bite. They actually saw two with the same symptoms just today and more earlier in the week, just crazy. They gave him a cortisone and epinephrine shots and said to keep him on the Benadryl for three days. She said getting him on the Benadryl right away was the best thing I could have done for him and helped bring down the swelling in his face. He has bumps all over his body and really red "welts" on his chest and belly. His one ear is really swollen. He just looks miserable and sore to be touched 
The vet said the shots will make him thirsty and hungry so to not let him over eat and keep him quite. Right now he's cuddle up in the blankets and laying next to me. Hopefully he gets some relief soon.
Thank you to everyone for your information, thoughts and concern. This is exactly why this board is such an asset. I'm so thankful to know I can always count on the people here for quick and knowledgeable information. I know we have some drama that comes and goes but the real heart of this forum is seen everyday with all the support that is given to our wonderful breed that we all love.

Marley was doing much better a bit after we got home. The epinephrine shot he got worked really fast and the welts on his chest and belly are all gone now. He is resting but as defiantly perked up a bit

they don't know for sure. It's weird because I can't see Marley going after a bug. Kingston I have seen trying to eat spiders or whatever else...he has gotten stung by bees numerous times because he is always trying to "inspect" them but that's not something Marley does so I'm kinda puzzled by it.
poor boy looks dazed, with that tongue out.
