This is Peter and Paulina. Their mother was fatally
injured by a car, and out of eight, these two remain
hardy and growing well. From eye dropper to drinking from a dish, they crawl around now in the yard with Arthur, and he gives them snuffles each day.
Hope you like,
See you all in the a.m.

Might fine idea!! ......`
Don't apologize, sometimes I need prodding. LOL
I heard a poem long ago, I think it was wrote for me:
'Procrastination is my sin,
it brings me naught but sorrow.
I know that I should stop,
in fact, I will,...tomorrow."
While I'm at it... my favorite...
'Some wish to live within the sound
of church or chapel bell,
I want to run a rescue shop
a yard away from hell.'

The male I raised never bit.....
but was absolute h**l on a pack of cigs left laying around. He'd tear the pack open, eat half, then stash the other half under my brothe's bed. LOL
Once he was full grown, wanderlust of the wild was
unavoidable. He would let us pick him up and pet him, even hang from our hand by his tail, but was always wanting to take off. ???
gregg
Thank you all for your wonderful comments...
yes, Arthur loves the little ones, dogs, cats, hamsters,'possums, rabbits..but still has dominance
'issues' with dogs his size. He's so much better than he used to be, though an occasional flare-up keeps me on my toes. LOL
I want to get a pic of the baby 'possums eating watermelon with Arthur for the summer photo contest.
I know, I have until 7/19..they should be eating well by then.
Take care all,
gregg
Yes, baby 'possums..7+/- wks old. 1 boy, 1 girl

So gentle
Arthur is something else!
What a good guy!
Both you and Arthur! You for taking in the darlings, and of course Arthur for his close supervision!
I am fairly new to this board and this is my first time to see a pic of Arthur...he's very handsome! Madison is smiling big time!
Good luck with them. I hope they do well. I'm sure they will with yall.

Who would have guessed!
Bulldog and possums!
We have the little bunnies running around here, but Pride isn't interested in being an ideal hostess.
I'll beat the webbie at this
Definitely summer photo contest winning pics. Be sure and enter them.
they certainly do..and I always returned my little ones also....
I am so thrilled to meet someone else who thinks they are very special critters...

didnt read the posts-but-are those possums???????
great pictures!
It's called imprinting. Now that would be unique N/M
nm
Disregard, I read Lynn's post that they are possums...
Duh, I don't know....
If they start snorting, drooling and snoring....... : )
.
So Gregg......what are they??
I'm still ignorant, possoms or raccoons?? They are the cutest little things.
What you wrote though is very interesting. Why is it possums don't make good pets when they are older?? Just curious for this city girl...
Glad yours hangs around...my male wanted the wilds.. LOL
they've been on infant formula, will go on to clabbered milk in a bowl, then soft cat food and
spoiled hamburger. (peanut butter once in a while) : )
peace
gregg
would like to... : )..
Wonderful story, I can sympathize with him...
'possums don't make good pets as adults. 'Coons are ok, but they can and will get into Eevveryythiiinng.
LOL. Believe it or not, skunks (descented) make the best pets. Variety of colors/stripes, leash/litterbox
trainable, very clean and they snuggle better than cats.
I'll let these two go when they are eating table scraps, three day old ground beef, past due date cottage cheese.
Besides my wife and Arthur, I have three children,(17, 15,8), 1 cat, 1 hamser and 1 fish.
peace (most of the time) LOL
gregg
Oh Gregg
Your such a sweetheart, can I swap you for Glen lol!
Thanks again for the smiles!
Kisses to my favorite boy (arthur!!)
Arthur
Gregg,
That is so neat. Good for Arthur. Do you think they will grow up thinking they are Bulldogs?
Give that good boy a special smooch
Lynn K
hope so! worked fast to get them on today.. : )
Hope you're felling better. Pat the pups.....
g
thanks, whole fam helps..arthur 'supervises" LOL : )
.
checking on arthur's school .....
we found mama hit on Main St. It was 3:30 in the am and we were driving by arthur's school which got demolished the week before by the tornado.
I raised one when I was 15 from eyedropper to letting him go in the woods. They thrive in the wild after captivity.
gregg
Ohhhhhh
I am in love! Possums are one of my favorite creatures...those two with Arthur are precious!!!
We have an adult that likes to hang out on top of the kennel outside...we feed her bread with peanut butter...she is so gentle....I'm really in love with those babies, Gregg!
What do you feed them? And will they be released when they are older or will they be too used to human contact?
What are they???
Are they possum's or raccoons??? Since I've never seen babies of either, I don't know.
But they are darling. Are you going to keep them? When I was young, my older brother who was about 15 then would spend the summers with our grandfolks in Iowa. One year he found a young raccoon at the river fishing. Brought it back to grandmas, and it got so tame and friendly, like a dog. However, when summer was over, he couldn't bring it home (traveled on train) and he had to take it back to the river and let it loose. I can remember him so upset, crying and begging our folks.
That's why I wondered if you were keeping them. Do people often keep them as pets??
OMG how precious
Oh Gregg, what incredible shots... Arhtur, he is so Gentle!!! Awesome, those made my day!
S/B "little" not littel"
my "send" finger worked faster than my proofreading eyes. LOL
orphans
Looks to me like those two littel ones are not really orphans at all. They are hardy and growing due to Arthur's daily snuffles....and probably some help from a two legger. Thanks for sharing. The pictures are priceless!!
Jane
King Arthur..your my hero...
I've raised a few of these little buggers myself...
and loved every minute of it...
how did you come to have them?
folks think I'm crazy..but this time of year if I see a mum on the side of the road..I always stop and check the pouch for little ones...bless your hearts..and enjoy..
Arthur you are a love...ce
Real neat pic. nm
