Help open sores.....

Last night when we went to bed Brakus was fine. But when we woke up the back of his neck is one big raw sore. There is no other dog that could have gotten to him. I have no idea what could have happened, I didn't hear him cry or bark through the night. I have noticed him rubbing the sore on anything he could get it on. What can I do for him today ? I am going to take him to the vet first thing tomorrow.

I posted this on the other board too.

Hot spots

There's are some recent posts about hot spots and the treatment on the web site discussion group wonderfulworldofbulldogs.com as well. It gives other treatments in addition to Ce's find advice.

Hope your bullie's hot spots go away soon.

hot spots..home care....

The scary thing about hot stops isn't only how ugly they look and how painful they are but they can actually grow in size in just a few hours time.
they can be warm, swollen patches and can be pus exuding and give off a foul odor.
...some do disappear on there own...others can become dangerous bacterial infections."it's best to call the vet if you think it is a hot spot and it does not improve within 24 hours"....your bullie may need oral or topical antibiotics.
...home treatments for temp relief:
clean the spot usually with an mild antibacterial soap like phisoderm..or any none perfumed mild soap.....just dab the spot with cotton soaked in the soap.
....for pain relief and help with cleaning...a compress, wet a soft clean cloth in cool water wring it out well and apply for 10 to 15 minutes about 3 times a day.......
....also a home remedy that I have used..is washing the spot with strong 'black or green' brewed tea. make sure its cool after brewing...these teas have tannic acid in them which helps with drying the area and with healing.
...you can also get a Burow's solution at pharmacies that can help healing...either use as a compress or put in a spray bottle and spray the area........
...to reduce swelling and pain...a thin layer of hydrocortisone cream can help but make sure the area is clean first.a 1% cocentration twice a day is best...try not to let yur lovie lick the spot..I hope this helps...ce
