Help with dog bite

Nope..mine did not bite any..I was bitten by a friends 120 pound dog about an hour ago. Should I ice it or put heat on it? It is on my right leg, right around my ankle. Broke skin in one spot, and does not look very nice.

Dog is UTD on vaccinations, and I am not mad at either dog or owner..but boy does it hurt.

Dog Bite

I get several dog bites a year breaking up fights because I dive into the middle of them. If you have Cephalexan, take 500 mg twice a day for 2 weeks and keep it open and draining. You never want a dog bite to seal over (voice of experience).

If your Tetanus is over 7 yrs old you might want to get another.

Dr. office, first thing tomorrow

You can wait till tomorrow on this, then go to your regular doctor. It'll be a lot cheaper than the ER. If you had a tetnus shot in the past 10 years, you should be ok on that. Take OTC pain killers for the pain and put ice on it if you can.

I just went through this!!!

Keep flushing it out with water and peroxide. DO NOT seal it up with a bandage. Go to an after hours medical center if possible to get antibiotics and a tetanus if you are not up to date. Or go to the the ER. Antibiotics are key right now. If you get them within the first 24 hrs you won't get an infection. Even if the dog is up to date on all shots etc. infection can still occur and trust me it is nasty when it gets infected. Good luck!

Go to the hosiptal!!

my husband got bite and we had to go -- you need a tetnis (don't know how to spell) if you have not had one and it can get infected easy -- get antib. also!! Good luck!!!!! I am sorry it happened!!!

You wan to wash it well with an anticeptic soap and

dry & then put Neosporin on it & bandage.

Dog bites can get infected quite easily. If it doesn't look good tomorrow you'd better see a doctor.

Sue

Not sure, but maybe put hydrogen peroxide on it??

hopefully Margaret will see your post. Also, try a Google search. Good luck.
